i know that there are several of you wonderful boardies who knit. i want a hat that looks like this one from A Christmas Story.....I have been looking for one like it for years now and have had no luck. I am hoping to find someone who can make one for me. any takers??

it looks like a tedius project. would have knit in the round, however using a smaller weight yarn, which means, takes longer.

i was thinking, wonder if this could be done on a loom

when i was in joann's last week, i was looking at that easy knitting loom.....it was an "as seen on tv" thing. i wondered if i could do it myself.

A girl I used to work with used the knitting loom. She enjoyed it and said it was fairly easy. Give it a whirl!!!

i'm not much of a knitter but that hat wasn't done in the round - it's got a seam. i'd volunteer to crochet it for you but i'm still working on some christmas presents from 09

It could be done in the round...with lots of patience.

i'll be hitting up joann's this weekend. i figure playing with a loom might be a good idea while i am out on maternity leave.

That hat is done in the round.I have one made already.I recentely made it and it was done all in the round.It came out really nice also.
