Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid, yet portable, flag pole? Also, what works best for the flag? We were thinking about using a pillow case and cutting it open at the seam. Open to any ideas. We've had enough of wondering around looking for the tent, albeit we've met plenty of nice folk doing it.

Those Ceiling fan cleaning poles and light bulb changing poles work usualy they are yellow. Bring zip ties for the flag.

where in rhody are you?
There are bamboo forests in Charlestown, and Tiverton. Newport too, but its private property.
Charlestown (the Umbrella Factory) is a bunch of hippies. All you gotta do is cut one that is down. Add a pulley, some rope, and you are done.

In East Providence. I'm familiar with the various places to find bamboo, but like you said, it's on private property. Also, I'm well aware of the Umbrella factory, great place to walk around.
