one of the guys that works there said it was a bad idea because someone might take them.
i asked if he meant other staff, he said no - the locks don't work.
when i asked if ice ever just dissapeared, he said no - he just takes the bags he needs for the weekends.

they last so much longer!
i use old take out plastic containers
then, when i am taking them out, just have a bowl of hot water to loosen any that dont wanna come out easily
line the bottom of your cooler with the blocks, then a layer of frozen water bottles and then the food/beverages
at that point, one small bag of cube ice sprinkled on top will fill in any holes and your cooler is ready to rage
dont forget to make sure that you dont jostle the drain plug when you are playing car tetris, or your trunk will get swampy
will be making block ice tonite
water bottles have been frozen already
cooler is clean and ready to go!
is it time to leave yet?!

They also provide cold fresh water as they melt....some other tips....QUICKLY get what you want from the cooler and close the top. Make sure top is completely down and cooler is kept in SHADE. Putting a towel on top also helps and cooler can become an extra seat.

making larger iceblocks is KEY. we have a bunch of tupperware containers that are 2 inches tall and about 8 inches by 6 inches. add water, freeze, remove, repeat - they work perfectly for the bottom and as a separator. then I just buy maybe 20 lbs of ice to pour over the top... works great! the blacks are the last to melt!
I was trying to think what we could use, as we don't have super-large tupperwares - that said, lasagna pan to the rescue! Block ice for the bottom of our cooler this year!

dollar tree has cheap shit that might not be good for food storage (who knows? maybe it is) but certainly can make ice!
