Would anyone hear like to share their experience / expertise re: electronic descalers?

For those unfamiliar these are devices that claim to have the same effect as a water softener.

Though, as I understand it, in a water softener the calcium, etc. are eliminated and in a descaler they are put in a state where they won't scale.

That'd be electric, not electronic, right?

What are you, an engineer?? There could be a speed controller in there for the motor, hence, electronic. So there.

It says so on my business card, Senior Engineer and Systems Analyst. Though maybe the new one says Senior Developer or something like that.

But ya know, mostly I'm just a PITA

Anyway, I suppose yeah there COULD be electronics in there, I suppose
