The concept of wildfires is pretty fucking frightening for this east coaster. Hurricane's and Blizzards result in far more casualties here on the East Coast than wildfires do in the West, but I've never worried much about a wicked storm coming in.
If a west coast wildfire was in my neighborhood though, I'd have trouble sleeping.
Hope this passes quick for you and your family Josh.

Good luck, Josh
...and the rest of the wildlife.
That mountain pine beetle has left a lot of standing dead forest out there.

Do you know your friend's address? I can tell if they're in the area.
My 5 year old was outside with the hose waiting for the fire...he's so cute. Like I told him, the way it looks now we have more of a chance of a zombie war then a wildfire where we are right now. The fire would have to jump the interstate...but as anyone in SoCal can tell you...never say never. Nothing packed, but the redhead and I discussed what we'd bring, pack, etc...and she's calling the insurance company tomorrow.

I know we all make fun of Josh a lot but that's all in good fun. This is a serious situation. I was in Colorado for the great fires of 2002. If you pray, please pray to whatever/whoever/wherever you pray for Josh and his family. If you have another moment to pray please say a few prayers for my brother Dave and his girlfriend Jenn. They live in Bayfield and work in Durango. They are safe for now.

I think I'm going to volunteer next weekend in some capacity...
That's very generous of you to volunteer, but make sure youre family are emotionally, physically and mentally ok before you go out helping others. Leave the volunteer for guys out there like me. No kids, no spouse, etc.
