This is exactly how I have been feeling lately around here-- I am starting to feel like what's the point.
I love alot of you still here, I also might add that I have made alot of friends here who don't come around anymore for similar reasons:dunno:

having been on these boards since they started, it seems like we now have babysitters and not "guides"....it's.... well.... ridiculous IMO
Perhaps you're feeling that way because there's a certain portion of the board population that seems to require babysitters rather than guides at times. I know I've noticed that from time to time.
We're all adults and are responsible for our own words & actions. This place is not a free for all. We all need to think before we post. Some do, some don't. And therein lies the rub.

I used to be a lot more open around this place. Now suddenly I have to be guarded about what I say...This place used to be therapeutic... along with the jokes... Now, If I bitch about something, or even bring up something happy, then someone brings up some negativity into it thats usually irrelivant to what the heck I was talking about in the first place!!!

I agree with both of these statements 100%.
here's my unpopular opinion:
GOTV boards have been thoroughly PT'd.
the negativity, trolling, language butchery, and general edginess of that awful place has not so subtly taken hold here and driven a lot of folks away. I used to post here a lot. I have made some amazing, life-long friendships here. now? now, I barely ever come here to read what's going on, never mind post my thoughts or join in a conversation. it pains me that a place that I used to get enjoyment from and a sense of real community has turned into an un-navigable maze of mean-spiritedness and inanity.

...the ONLY reason I come here is to keep in touch with a few friends and on occasion catch a few laughs, when so permitted:rolleyes:.
Another observation - for a community who relies heavily on the "idea" of being non-judgmental and accepting, I am hard-pressed to find evidence of that mentality here for a while now. It is such a joke:lol: people should ride their high horses on outta here....just sayin':plain:

Exactly. I try to spread good vibes until messed with. I say, "Hey, here's a show I'm producing that may be of interest to some of the people who frequent the Family Forum." and get reamed for it. I've tried to roll with the punches, but some people who are allowed to exist her with their crappy attitudes (who I've given gigs to, BTW) are driving good people away from the boards.
Even a particular VG moves my threads about shows, but leaves other people's show threads in the Family Forum. I'm not sure who it is.
Spread good vibes here? How can I when I get called a spammer, and when all I've tried to do is be supportive of boardie bands?
As far as how I pay bands, sure I brought that up last week...if they drew strong, they'd get bonused. Those complaining about how Asbury pays haven't ever drawn THAT strong to get paid better. It's called business. Agree to a gig, play the gig, get paid what you agreed to...pretty simple.
I tried to help fill the void that Vibes was leaving at ILCC...lots of boardies supported and I appreciate that. That particular Phanphest was an epic fail...so be it. Take risks, suffer the consequences.
Try to be supportive and post shows of interest? Get shit on.
Good luck. It's the internet. Yes, it can affect turnouts. Yes, it can make somebody feel bad. I really hope that people's treatment of Nucka didn't contribute to his death. I hope people have a thick enough skin to deal with the negativity here.
I, for one, decided to take a "hiatus" from the boards last year. Do I really feel like coming back here much? No.
I miss people like Bubblechick. Her attitude was the old school attitude...holding people accountable and keeping them in line with caring, love, and guidance.
Things change. It's a fact of life.
To all you old schoolers - thanks for treating people with love and respect. To many new schoolers - you trashed the vibe here. Congrats.

I just ignore that shit... 'Course, I grew up with three siblings, I learned how to ignore shit that doesn't serve me pretty early on in life...
Sometimes having a punk rock attitude of not giving a fuck really does help.

the problem I had with it was that over the years, I've had numerous threads blasted at my request... And it was always done without question. Mostly they were stupid threads.. . It was like a new rule.I wrote the thread, thinking I would have it blasted to protect both myself and someone I knew it could hurt if it was ever dug up...I begged.. and it didnt get blasted. Not fair.
Like using abortion as birth control?
In the past, not everyone realized what was the general policy, and would delete on request.
