... The 30,000 or so drones that are gonna be watching us by 2022?

Learned about this via the ACLU last week:

http://www.aclu.org/...iberties-minute

Doesn't jibe well with me at all. :plain:

Curious on others' thoughts on this subject.

It's not the drones that bother me as much as what is the justification for this expense? Don't get me wrong, nobody likes being spied on but seriously, we are in a heap of financial shit and this seems like nothing other than a waste of money.

if there is a justification for this, I'd like to hear it.

And don't forget billions in profit for the makers of the drones, who happen to already be some of the owners of the government.

We made our decision (as a country) in 2004 when we re-elected Bush.

This is just an extension of the same policies.

I'm really not that worried about it, though, overall.

I do think the money could be spent in much better ways, and it is a real shame.

No mention of this being Obama’s policy? No one could blame Clinton for his policy because “the buck stopped with the president” when little w took office. When does “the buck stops with the president” start when it is a democrat? The man is up for re-election for Christ sake!

Good luck with that one. Ive been asking that of supporters for 3 1/2 years and all I get are:

"It's booosh Fault."

It's got to be tough to support the same type of policies from Obama that one was criticizing under Bush.

I'd imagine that's why many of those around here who, for years, were so vocal about all the wrongs of Bush have chosen to stick their heads in the sand when it comes to much of what Obama has done.

At least when your heads in the sand you can't see the drones (and they can't see you)

Just for the record, I don't like any of the US presidents that have been around in my lifetime, except for Clinton. But I'm a Canuck, so who cares, right? :funny1:

Obama is as much of a joke as any of them. All his campaign was about was marketing. It's all the same shit.

yeah, well it doesn't make sense to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, either.

Just because Obama hasn't done every single thing that I would like him to, doesn't mean I'm going to shoot myself in the foot and vote for someone else who would make my life worse.

If I lived in a house with a leaky roof, I wouldn't burn the house down and pitch a tent instead, but this is what Obama haters are urging everyone to do.

Obama sucks so let's just vote for someone we really can't stand... no, I don't think so.

And this is what I've been saying for 3 and a 1/2 years.

Unless you can come up with someone better, you're just being stupid, obstinate, and of course bigoted.

And don't say Ron Paul. I've already told you why I think he's a steaming pile of shit, and you took offense to it as if he was your father.

I'm not sure what the reason is for your inability to comprehend relativity, but it seems ridiculous to me -- bad, worse, and worst... it's like 1st grade shit, but I'll explain... worst is good, worse is better, and bad is best (Paul - worst, Romney - worse, Obama - bad, therefore by relative comparison Obama is best).

You're welcome.

Furthermore...

In 2022 I'm sure the technology will have advanced to the point where drones won't be needed to monitor your activity... so quit being a drama queen.

No, I didn't think you were... Ha ha!

I did start the thread. I think the drones are bad news. I don't like seeing civil liberties up and disappear like that. :undecided:

And yeah. I can't vote here, either, so even tho I disagree with all the candidates, it's pretty much a moot point. Oh well.

I don't believe monitoring activity would be a violation of anyone's civil liberties.

However, it would make it a lot easier to infringe on people's civil liberties.

For example, a religious group being monitored is seen praying. Who cares? Right? But, if praying becomes illegal, then there is a problem with the law against praying, not the monitoring.

Do I make sense to anybody but myself?
