my aunt got into a habit of spelling certain curse words instead of saying the actual word out loud. eventually one of her kids turned to her & said something like, "mom, i know how to spell"

i stopped swearing and started shortening the word etc. so i could still say it but feel better... yeah, doesn't matter when your kid calls a bad driver a 'd-bag' it still has the same effect as the entire word
