tents on the field and other newbie questions

I am wondering if someone can please explain the tents on the field. I know that they have to be set up on the outside of the track but do they need to be taken down every night or are spots claimed for the whole weekend? If they are there the whole weekend would it be in my best interest to set up a spot as soon as i get there(Thur)? I want to create a place where the kiddos can relax out of the sun but mum and pa can enjoy the music.
While I am asking questions I will throw a few more out there....
When is a map available to view? I want to plan ahead on packing either bikes or a wagon to help transport if we are WAY out of the way. we are going to be in family camping and I really wish i knew what it is near and how far away from everything.....
Also with the bikes, are there plenty of pretty nice places to leave them without worrying about them, locked up of course?
Are there going to be misting tents? my girls tend to gravitate to them at festivals....
And back to the wagon, are they allowed everywhere, even on the main concert field?
silly question of the day: what is the 550 cord for on the list of things to bring?
Whew I hope I have asked all I need to but I sure there will be more.
Thank you all in advance for your help!
and any family campers with any hints or suggestions to make this festival the best one yet, please help a mummy out!

What do you mean by "bike"? Anything nice left around outside your camp is too much of a temptation for the wooks. If you are very trusting and ride a fixie, give it a go, but that's more trust than I have in human nature.
It's a great crowd of folks at Vibes! But you're still in Bridgeport.

I'm not sure, but I think you can bring a wagon onto the concert field.
As Julius says, you don't want to have a tent up on the field, esp at night. It is too crowded, and it will get destroyed. I don't think they are allowed after dark anyway...
550 cord is just strong rope. You don't need it , but it is very good camping rope. Strong and light... Also called parachute cord.
Keep your bike locked up in camp. There are plenny places to ride during the day, but you are close enough to the concert field, bringing a bike would be more trouble than its worth.
Misting tents would be a good idea, esp after last year. There have been about 10,000 requests in the past year, so we shall see if anybody listens...
The maps are good for general whereabouts, but since you are so close to the main area, you really won't need one ahead of time.

Shade tents are permitted on the field, but only towards the rear of the field behind the track. There's much more room back there & you're less likely to interrupt sightlines for the technicians and your fellow attendees, but you'll be able to hear the music just fine. Please do not leave any of your gear on the field overnight as it more than likely will not be there the next morning. Better to be safe than sorry & break your stuff down when you head back to camp for the night.
Hope this helps and hope you and your family enjoy Vibes!

The OP has a good point, and the question has been asked before. A map would be helpful to people PRIOR to arriving onsite. Hippies like to make plans, and look at maps...
sorry guys we dont post maps of the venue - ticket holding hippies arent the only ones who like to look at maps.

Official updated answer re: Mist Tents
Ok - yes for misting tents. expect one in kids corner area as last year - other locations TBD
Whoo-Hoo!!
COOL!
(pun intended)
Will public making out be allowed in said misting tents? With or without the singing of, "I get misty just holding your hand?"

I knew I would have another question.
Is the kids area close to the music at all? Will we be able to let the kids play and still hear?
That is all I have for now, off to cook dinner for my motley crew!

You can hear the music in Family Camp too...

i dont think you can hear the music WELL but it is a short walk
besides, they have a LOT of good music scheduled for the Teen tent (next to it? i think?) so i doubt you would be able to hear it anyway...
imho (not a parent so...) you should have a tent on the field with some toys and stuff so they can play and so can you!
you can always wander to the kids/teen area as needed

Don't need it? It makes a great clothes line for towels + bathing suits, it is a great way to hang tarps for those in the woods.....man that stuff has a million uses...makes shift hand cuffs for the kinky.... Just gotta get the real thingy from army surplus stores and such since the knock off crap is crap (no UV protection and fails under a lite load).

eh, not really any info that can't be discerned from a google map. and they'll quite possibly change the locations of certain things, but not others, so don't take it as fully accurate for the coming year. but this was last year:The OP has a good point, and the question has been asked before. I would take down your sunshade when you leave at night or it will be gone/destroyed.
Toys that entertain: glow sticks, beach balls, face paint, hula hoops - all can be found at the dollar store & you don't care if they get lost.
Please remember earplugs!!

Mama Kel made a great point about the ear plugs. Every festival we have taken the kids to there has been ample amounts of free ear plugs in the kids area. Haven't really heard that about vibes...but just in case, I will have PLENTY of extras to go around for all the little ears! Please don't hesitate to ask and don't get offended if I walk up to you and offer if I see your kids don't have any, I am just trying to help. I know they get lost easily and can go thru a TON in the weekend. Also get the bright colors so they are easier to locate in the dark.
Whew, 16 more days and I am still out buying things!
Can't wait to see you all real soon!

YES A+ ALL THE AWARDS TO YOU & MAMA KEL! I was born partially deaf and being an avid concertgoer/business of music major, I've heard of so many other people [both in bands or just attendees] who have major hearing problems by 25 just because they didn't wear ear plugs. I was at Bamboozle in May and saw quite a few children without ear plugs, but seeing this makes me so happy! I keep my plugs on my keyring, so I literally have them with me everywhere I go. My little sister is starting to get to the age where she goes to concerts with her friends and I always give her a pair of extra foam ear plugs [especially since she loves EDM].

These are super cheap but worth every penny. The ones I got come with a little case [how I keep them on my keyring] and a string that attaches them together so they don't become separated.
Sorry for the rambling post but I'm just so happy to see other concert goers [especially the mommas with kids!] using ear plugs. A cheap investment that will preserve your hearing in the long run!

Just an FYI, If you stop at your local welding supply store, you can get these for much much less than your link.
