RIP Nucka. So sad to be reading this right now. As someone who is battling with addiction myself right now this scares me. Not to make it about me at all, but I will definitely use this as part of my motivation for staying clean. I'll have 6 months tomorrow. Much love to Nucka and all his family and friends. So sad.
Dp congrats on your six months, keep up the good work. it does get better.

I opened my glove box and there it was - it gave me a smile and I hope Nucka knows that while he was misunderstood by many - he did have a friend in me -
I talked to him by phone one or two days prior to his passing - my phone rang twice, then stopped - caller ID said "NUCKA" so I called back... he said I did not call you you called me... I was like I am calling you back cuz you called me! He spoke briefly about the rehab, but sounded tired... but encouraged. A short conversation, and always in retrospect you wonder. I've lost some salt water in the past few days... while I feel I could sense the ultimate brevity of his time - I'm affected by the proximity of that fact.
some of us have a monkey on our backs... some of us; a 900 lb gorilla....and that's a far greater burden to carry on with.

If that book he wrote is ready for printing, now wpuld be the time to start pressing.
you know, I was wondering if ~we~ could do that... somehow put it to print.... I'd be willing to help fund such a project, if someone else was closer / close enough to the parents to approach and discuss.

thanks all for sharing your stories and photos. i never met nucka but we did email back and forth a bit, he sent me a portion of his book a while back. i always hoped he would come out of his darkness because he had such potential. i related to him and told him so because of my sister who struggled with addiction and passed away from an overdose.

something his family should do.
Id read it.
I would most definitely read Mr. Nucka's book and would even try and help complete it if it needs it!!!

RIP bro, I'm sad I never got to meet you. You always struck me as one of the most sincere and real people on the boards. Peace.
Agreed. He knew that he wasn't perfect, and was unapologetic about it. I made it a point to seek him out at a Wormtown fest, but it was after a night of fun, so we were both kind of fried. It was the only time I ever met him in person.
Like so many others, I hope that he is finally at peace.

I only knew him from his postings on these boards. He seemed like he had a troubled past, but was making great strides lately!! And while he may have pissed some folks off with his postings, for the most part they seemed to be from his heart.
He will be missed!!!

We were there for each other during some difficult times. He cared, even though he was far away.
It's amazing how illness can roll someone so sensitive in sandpaper chips, sometimes.
I'm glad he'd been becoming more aware and doing better, during his last month. I feel his spirit, but at the same time, I really miss him. ((Tim))

I was sorry to have to ask you to leave Phan Phest 2.5...I always had hope for you.
May you be at peace now, brother.
This is a shock indeed. I always wanted you to be well and at peace with your demons.
Shine on, you crazy diamond.
RIP, Nucka.

I'm so sorry for anyone here who is mourning the loss of a friend, and my thoughts and sympathy go out to his family especially
But I really loved reading everyone's stories about him...it makes him less an Internet "character" and more of a real person. Please keep sharing.
