This is a real shocker, and disheartening to say the least. Nucka was loved here, and many other places I'm sure.

RIP bro, I'm sad I never got to meet you. You always struck me as one of the most sincere and real people on the boards. Peace.

Very Sad indeed. I never met him in person either. I had a few interactions here with him. Hopefully he can rest in peace and his family can find some as well.

Met Tim once and we talked about addictions in general and how he was struggling. i know he was trying hard and I identified with him. He will be missed.

RIP Nucka. So sad to be reading this right now. As someone who is battling with addiction myself right now this scares me. Not to make it about me at all, but I will definitely use this as part of my motivation for staying clean. I'll have 6 months tomorrow. Much love to Nucka and all his family and friends. So sad.:cry1::heart:

Dp congrats on your six months, keep up the good work. it does get better.

Driving into the train station this morning, I recalled the beautiful purple crystal he handed me as he stepped out of the car when we got back from Vibes...

I opened my glove box and there it was - it gave me a smile and I hope Nucka knows that while he was misunderstood by many - he did have a friend in me -

I talked to him by phone one or two days prior to his passing - my phone rang twice, then stopped - caller ID said "NUCKA" so I called back... he said I did not call you you called me... I was like I am calling you back cuz you called me! He spoke briefly about the rehab, but sounded tired... but encouraged. A short conversation, and always in retrospect you wonder. I've lost some salt water in the past few days... while I feel I could sense the ultimate brevity of his time - I'm affected by the proximity of that fact.

some of us have a monkey on our backs... some of us; a 900 lb gorilla....and that's a far greater burden to carry on with.

you know, I was wondering if ~we~ could do that... somehow put it to print.... I'd be willing to help fund such a project, if someone else was closer / close enough to the parents to approach and discuss.

thanks all for sharing your stories and photos. i never met nucka but we did email back and forth a bit, he sent me a portion of his book a while back. i always hoped he would come out of his darkness because he had such potential. i related to him and told him so because of my sister who struggled with addiction and passed away from an overdose.

Agreed. He knew that he wasn't perfect, and was unapologetic about it. I made it a point to seek him out at a Wormtown fest, but it was after a night of fun, so we were both kind of fried. It was the only time I ever met him in person.

Like so many others, I hope that he is finally at peace.

He will be missed!!!

about two years ago, Nucka was on the boards looking for valentines. I wasn't dating Rob yet, so I said I'd exchange with him. I wanted him to know how much I cared, and make SURE he didn't feel alone. So I sent him a card, and lottery ticket, (that was what my step-dad does, and I love getting them..we had a money limit, so I figured it would be fun) anyway, he won $50. Happy Valentines Day!
I have more stories, but I love that one. I've never won more then 5 bucks.:heart:

Wow. So sad. While Nucka was always a little bit of a pain in my ass on the boards, he was an intelligent and sensitive person in real life. We had some really good hangs over the years -- first at Blind Camel's party back in the day, then at the Full Moon by the campfire and many a late night in the campground. He knew that he wanted to get better and fought until the bitter end to do it.

Fare thee well, Stumbles. :wook:

He had a really good time at that Full Moon campfire. :)

We were there for each other during some difficult times. He cared, even though he was far away.

It's amazing how illness can roll someone so sensitive in sandpaper chips, sometimes.

I'm glad he'd been becoming more aware and doing better, during his last month. I feel his spirit, but at the same time, I really miss him. ((Tim))

I never met him in person, but I was shocked to see the sticky thread when I logged on here for the 1st time in weeks today. I enjoyed reading his random threads, they always provided a break to the monotony of some of my workdays...

I'm so sorry for anyone here who is mourning the loss of a friend, and my thoughts and sympathy go out to his family especially

But I really loved reading everyone's stories about him...it makes him less an Internet "character" and more of a real person. Please keep sharing.
