The first time I saw Sam Bush was also my first Bela Fleck and The Flecktones show. The Smith Opera House was buzzing with word that Sam Bush would be sitting in with the Flecktones. I had no idea who he was, but he blew me away with his playing and stage pressence.

The next time I saw him was at The Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 1999. He was the Saturday night headliner and he dazzled the crowd on madolin, fiddle and guitar under a backdrop of Rocky Mountains.

I saw him at The Egg in Albany in 2001 right after September 11th. My first show at The Egg was an all time classic, full of joy, patriotism, and dancing.

In 2002 I saw him at The Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival where a big fog desened down over the stage. A highlight was John Hartford's "Up on The Hill Where They Do The Boogie".

I also went on to see him perform at Merlefest in North Carolina twice.

It's been a grand adventure Sam... Thank you.
