i have to give them credit for booking a band that plays festival sets better than they do. In case you're wondering who I'm talking about... I'm talking about Greensky Bluegrass. On the big stage or the masters tent, few bands bring it better than Greensky Bluegrass.

I saw them yeas ago. they are good. prefer yonder or hot buttered over them though

Hot Buttered Rum never lived up to their potential. I used to be really into them not so much anymore. Yonder is very good. Jury is out yet on Cornmeal. Greensky has arrived. So have Infamous Stringdusters.

My vote easily goes to Cornmeal. Recently saw hot buttered and they were excellent. Both Hot Buttered and Greensky will be on jamcruise in Jan so I am stoked

yeah of any of the up and coming bluegrass bands Railroad Earth and Cornmeal will continue to gain steam. of the smaller bands Trampled seems to be getting the most hype these days. OK gets out of bluegrass thread before all street cred is lost.

Cornmeal is very catchy and they have good covers. I would rather pluck a few songs off of a Cornmeal show than at Greensky show. If I could listen to a whole show, I'd pick Greensky.

Greensky, Cornmeal, and the Stringdusters are the bands to watch. Love Yonder, love HBR. and RRE, but the former bands (albeit very successful) are still lean and scrapping on the upswing of their careers. They're still hungry for it.

We saw Driftwood a few months ago ourselves. I like the agressivness and poses of the fiddle player. Nice folks too.

just youtubed driftwood...looks like that fiddler is from the allie kral school of fiddling
allie will always be *it* for me, but i certainly wanna check these guys out

Driftwood stopped by an open mic in Cheshire 2-3 weeks ago while driving between gigs. They were great. And yes really nice guys too.

Trampled By Turtles is no longer smaller, which I was shocked by. Went and saw them at the Westcott on a week night a few weeks ago. The place was packed almost to capacity. They brought in about 600 people. More than both Yonder and Railroad drew there on weekends in the past. They weren't too impressive though and played a 1 hour set and a 15 min encore. Definitely not worth $20. Cool to see Driftwood getting love in this thread, they're an upstate NY band and while I've never seen them yet, our band is playing a show with them at the end of the month so I will most definitely check them out!
