yessir! mudshark season is in full swing now on the salmon river. haven't been in 2 weeks. was an awesome early run this year and was fortunate enough to fish with zero crowds. had a stretch where we went 4 days in a row, had our favorite run to ourselves, and got to play with lots of very agrresive fresh cohos and kings. landed a king that was still all silver and green, much fresher than the one pictured but had no camera that day. Salmon season has 2 purposes...get me excited for steelhead and to get eggs for steelhead season.it's a mudshark (King Salmon)
nice one man... and it ain't even rotting yet

Had the day off so I took the boat with a motor on it down to the Quinnipiac River Marsh. Didn't catch anything but got a feel for the rustic, rocky launching spot. I made it about half way to the sound, the tide was coming in fast...I turned around at the first train bridge. The new rod felt great, I'll have to get some live bait for the next trip.

That was in this crappy place in New Rochelle...Hudson Park or something! Next trip we are hitting the Mamaroneck harbors so I can have my powerchair and fish off of the docks and piers and shit there! We have plans to also do some autumn trouting up near Croton Falls & Brewster, NY. Before my 2004 injury, I was dynamite with the fly rod! I miss that tons!
I'll show my friends and nephews how it's done with my small spinning outfit I guess!

I took the boat with a motor out again
. I had planned on fishing today but didn't plan on the rain. I had most everything ready so I went any way. Still didn't get any live bait, so lots of casting the popper and fake eel. No fish.....just cold and wet , still beat work. I brought a poncho and dry clothes to change into. I went all the way to the second railroad bridge but it was super high tide and it didn't look like I would fit under it. There was only about 12" over the motor clearance at the first bridge, I had to crouch way down. The osprey were flying around and I think I saw a pair of young eagles.....lots of birds , no fish.
