Sea Robbin Recipe....

Salt, pepper and garlic filet on both sides.

Bake in oven, on baking board 350 for 20 mins.

Throw away sea robbin and eat the board. :bowl:

Our total of fish for May is 9 :jump: (not including ones that we threw back!) Augie caught 8, and I only caught 1. :)

I'm keeping a tally on a marker board in the kitchen! :)

Have been out Walleye fishing on Oneida Lake twice so far this year. First time had 1 and the second time we had 4. Biggest one being about 18in. Hopefully I'll get out again this week. Last year at this point I had hit up the trout streams probably 20 times but this year haven't been out at all I've been too damn busy. Hopefully that changes this week :)

would anyone happen to know what it was in the last 2 days that made all the fish disappear? from the north shore to the south...east and west, the fish are nowhere to be found.

Strolled up the local stream (Nine Mile creek) last week flipping a little black and gold Panther Martin tailed with a Gulp 1" black leech. I caught more little bass and creek chub than I could shake a stick at. It was a cool 40 minute distraction from the heat of the day.

I fished the Au Sable up in Wilmington a few times last week. Got a few bites and nibbles but nothing set.

So when I got home, I took the canoe out Tuesday to fish a local lake. Got the canoe unloaded and into the water, only to discover a hole. Grrrr. I already had a dozen nightcrawlers so I hoofed it downshore a bit and settled on fishing from shore and wasting all the worms on panfish. But the lakers were soooo active. Every minute, to the left and to the right, they were jumpin' and slappin' the water. All of 'em -- of course -- just 20 feet beyond my casting. It was crazy.

Oh well. Still beats workin'.

This was the lake I fished, Hemlock Lake. It's just 5 minutes from home.

i need some recommendations
i accidentally broke my favorite fishing partners rod and want to replace it but am not sure what to get
i need something for casual lake fishing that is nice but not more than he needs, you know?
something that doesnt get all effed up easily and that casts well
any thoughts?

It can be mind boggling to pick out a rod.....fresh or saltwater....spinning, casting, inshore, offshore, one piece, two piece....... First you need to know what kind of reel is going on it....then how much money you want to spend :) I would decide on an amount and have a basic idea.....then head down to some place like Cabelas and ask for help.......

yeah...i was just hoping for some "stay away from brand a and bramd b is always good, even for basic stuff" type recommendations
i get nervous being left to a salesperson as i dont know enough to not get taken
perhaps a gift certificate is a better option - let him pick one out :dunno:

i haven't fished in a long time but my older son, makai, loves to fish, both river and ocean. here he is with his dad last month on the rogue river. he dropped "the little one" off at my house (25 lbs) and i quickly learned how to filet a salmon. yikes! it was soooooo yummy!!!
