The Obama campaign apparently didn't look backwards into history when selecting its new campaign slogan, "Forward" — a word with a long and rich association with European Marxism.
Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name "Forward!" or its foreign cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called "Forward (generic name of socialist publications)."
"The name Forward carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications," the online encyclopedia explains.

I just want to make sure there si no mistakes about what this man's agenda is and has been since the get go. He is a radical marxist.
As we know, marxist ideology doesn't work. Not only that, it is the tone of a "revolution" that cost a lot of people their lives and ended in pure squaller. Then there are the ideas within the manifesto that are simply wrong in regards to economics, the division of labor, exploitation, etc...
Bad ideas redux from Obama, or Mitt Romneys' corporatist agenda from the "right". It's all over. Good night suite prince.

i'm thinking his campaign people are a bunch of lazy dumb asses that didn't do the proper research before choosing the word "forward". i haven't watched the campaign video, but perhaps their idea is to have the people forget about the past & move "forward" w/ obama or obama will bring the nation "forward" towards prosperity.
I'm thinking his rhetoric ties it all in as it really is. That he is a communist. Hell, he has kept communist ideologues in his company for years. Bill Ayers, Van Jones, Jeremiah Wright, etc..etc..etc...
"Wealth redistribution"
"Fair Share"
The list goes on.

I think "forward" was chosen for multiple reasons. It's a dog-whistle to the socialists. It's a red flag for the wingnuts, who will be an easy target to paint as crazy when they start frothing over the "communist slogan." It's just a bland and vaguely promising slogan for everybody else.

I just find it funny that he actually picked a long, deep rooted marxist slogan for his 2012 campaign run. Literally, either too dumb to know it (highly doubtful) or knows exactly what it is intended to do.

Which means. He's either a flaming dolt of epcot porportions, or he knew exactly what he was doing. As IASW points out. Its the dog whistle.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will officially kick off the 2012 general election on May 5 with rallies at Ohio State University in Columbus and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, representing twin paths he’ll need to win.

Intersting date choice for the "official" kickoff of his campaign. Anyone want to take a swing at whos birthday falls on May 5th??
He's either oblivious to 3+ years of being labelled a Marxist, or he relishes in the label. The latter seems more likely.

Can you counter my claim with actual facts? Or do you just want to rolleyes at it as if it doesn't exist?
I can not counter your claim with facts. How do I prove he is not a Marxist?
Can't you just hate him for being a liberal big government nanny state Democrat? Save terms like marxist and communist for actual communist governments and politicians?

Nixon could have been a closet marxist. But that is rather irrelevant in regards to Obama. Proving Obama does not have strong socialist leanings is hard to do. That is true. Just making sure the Obama voters know what an unrestrained by election woes could be capable of promoting in this country. He's already put some leaps and bounds on the the Bush term three. Four should be really interesting.
could someone please tell me what TASB just said? I've seem to misplaced my secret decoder ring.

On the evening of January 11, 1996, while Mitt Romney was in the final years of his run as the head of Bain Capital, Barack Obama formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party. The issue remains as fresh as today’s headlines, as Romney argues that Obama is trying to move the United States toward European-style social democracy, which was precisely the New Party’s goal.
In late October 2008, when I wrote here at National Review Online that Obama had been a member of the New Party, his campaign sharply denied it, calling my claim a “crackpot smear.” Fight the Smears, an official Obama-campaign website, staunchly maintained that “Barack has been a member of only one political party, the Democratic Party.” I rebutted this, but the debate was never taken up by the mainstream press.
Recently obtained evidence from the updated records of Illinois ACORN at the Wisconsin Historical Society now definitively establishes that Obama was a member of the New Party. He also signed a “contract” promising to publicly support and associate himself with the New Party while in office.
Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party’s Chicago chapter read as follows:
Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party “Candidate Contract” and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.
