Pete Fornatale, DJ at WNEW and WFUV, and the author of several books on rock-n-roll, died this morning. Another voice from my formative years has been silenced.

Yeah, I know, this belongs in the NFA forum. Maybe a VibeGawd could move it after a couple of days.

There are some air checks of him on WNEW in 1977 on this page: http://www.nyradioar...com/wnewfm.html

Pete, along with Rosko, Alison Steele, Scott Muni, and Dave Herman had a supreme impact on the music NYC heard in the late 60's early 70's.

I remember Pete being a big Beach Boys fan

Well said...Pete was a Long Island lad, I met him when he first started at WNEW FM, he was a good guy. Can't believe he's gone.

Pete helped us all through 8/9/95 on K-Rock. I have 90 minutes in storage. We emailed a couple of times, over the years. Real nice guy. Strokes suck. Love and strength to his fans, friends and family.

The landscape of NYC Radio will never be the same. My condolences to Pete's friends and family, the entire WFUV staff (of which I have been a volunteer). I have to say that all the Radio work I have done over the years, and even my simple enjoyment of new and traditional music for 5 decades, owes a deep debt of gratitude to Pete.

RIP Pete Fornatale.

One of my favorite DJs. Thanks for spinning those tunes, Pete
