PORTSMOUTH, NH (CBS) – An exploding beer keg killed a brewery worker at the Redhook Ale Brewery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire Tuesday.

Officials say Ben Harris had been filling kegs with air to clean them out when one of the kegs blew up.

“Something failed where it basically blew apart under the pressure and with such force that parts of the keg pushed into his chest and into his head,” Portsmouth Asst. Fire Chief Steven Achilles told WBZ-TV.

He died at the hospital

You know, I thought just maybe, you'd have something pleasant to say in a thread about an obvious tragedy, so I opted to read a post of yours for the 1st time in months. I should have continued to ignore you. Lesson learned.

The Keg was made of plastic and didn't belong to Redhook.

sorry, cheap recycled plastic from china... and sorry I failed once again to satisfy your expectation of what I should post, where, and when.

furthermore, I think you're being hypocritical by posting your indignation because it's just as unpleasant and tacky, if not moreso.

i couldn't disagree more and would also like to see a little more respect from you in these type of threads. maybe mostly it just strikes me that the comments usually added to these type of threads are simply not worthy of you.

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in the gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die.

Life is a short, warm moment
And death is a long cold rest.
You get your chance to try in the twinkling of an eye:
Eighty years, with luck, or even less.

So all aboard for the American tour,
And maybe you'll make it to the top.
And mind how you go, and I can tell you, 'cause I know
You may find it hard to get off.

You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son.
And he was buried like a mole in a fox hole.
And everyone is still on the run.

And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in the gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die.

My father was engaged to his sister. From the handful of times I got to hang with Ben he showed he was nothing short of a great guy. He had a glowing spirit and a huge heart. This is a vicious and heart-rendingly unexpected tragedy. He will be sorely missed by many.

Rest easy friend.

So sorry to hear man. Your dad still cooking in Portsmouth? If you ever make it up for a visit, be sure to give us a shout.

NH Seacoast is a pretty tight nit community. Not saying other places aren't, but if you live here, chances are you've been to Redhook at least once, if not several times. Pains the heart to hear of such a tragedy at a place I always associate with having a good time at.

I didn't realize that some of you actually knew the guy. I'm sorry for your loss.

Still, this shouldn't have happened and I'm glad that OSHA is investigating.
