Wheeler around June 4th or so.  This way we slow the clock on his service time, and eventual freeagency.

Noah Syndergaard has been lighting it up.

Now if we can just get a Major Leaguer hitter or two to play the outfield or possibly SS for the Mets may be they could contend next year.

Are we still down on trading Dickey?  He has been awful this year.

If Tejada could figure out what to do with his hands and a bat, we'd be OK at SS.

If Baxter is going to be Mr. Clutch, I'll take it, and Legares made a nice catch last night.

I was more bummed about losing Dickey, but I knew it was the right move to make.

And ...

I hear people in Mets org. say they are not sold on Tejeda long term, and he could be gone after the season.

Baxter has potential, but he needs lots of time (see Duda) to find his way.  Legares is a scrub at the dish.

Harvey, Wheeler, Syndergaard, Niesse, whoever at 4.  My call of 2015 is still on pace.

I could live with Duda as our everyday LF. His OBP and SLG are good, although he's a strikeout liability.

Baxter won't hit for power, but his BB/K% has improved, as has his K%.

dickey trade had to be made. it helps to see that he's struggling, but even if he wasn't, it had to be done.

keep wheeler down for a few more starts.  don't want that clock ticking while he's up here losing 3-2, 4-3 cause this minor league team can't hit.  I'd like him to have success when he does come up but that's going to be difficult because...

...I wouldn't do anything to the outfield right now. let one of these guys find their way, and keep losing.  they need 3-4 bats, not one.

Ike Davis is worth no more than a bag of balls on a good day.  he's like Dave Kingman with more strikeouts and less homeruns.

Lucas Duda is only slightly better since he doesn't swing as much.

Baxter & Valdespin are good situational starters.  if you have to run them out there every day they will regress.

Murph is playing a legit 2nd base.

But re: my long held mantra of "Yanqs=Saux", there's another piece of this now.

We all know Bronx Bombers.   Now....there's Boston Bombers all over the news

Ike Sucks!  Hitting .156.

When does he get sent down?

When will the Mets get a legit Major leaguer to play the outfield?

I read in Buster Olney's column a week or so ago that most Scouts actually preferred Wheeler to Harvey before Harvey came up to the big leagues last year.  Crazy!

Do you think the Mets will sign a premiere Free agent OFer like Shin Soo Choo this coming offseason?  I like him as a player a lot and he can play Center field (I think).

He's actually far worse than this.  he should be in tee ball.

when does harvey pitch again?  I wish the DVR had an "every five days" option.

Where are you getting that info on Miggy?

Ah I was wrong, but still only two years.  I would not trade Wheeler now for him, but I would have last year, when they seemed to be going in the right direction.

The biggest problem was a tweet I read yesterday from Adam Rubin:

@somebody Is this worst team you have covered

@adamRubin Yes this is, in my 13 years covering the Mets.

The Tigers are making runs at the World Series and have 3 excellent starters.  No way they would move Miggy for Wheeler, this year or last year.

You seem to forget the Tigers were not that good early last year,  See standing 5/28/12, http://detroit.tiger...id=det#20120528.

They were 4 back and in third place.

There was an article in the NY Daily News about this last year, June and it is in this thread somewhere.

Also, the Tigers did not trade for Anibal Sanchez until 7/24/12 a month after the article was posted.

Trading Miguel Cabrera not an illogical proposition

http://www.detroitne...205240438/1004/

Would you give up some of our young pitching for Miggy. I would.

See here is the original article posted, almost 1 year ago to the day.

Finally:

We have reported in the past that the Mets are big-game hunting for top outfielders in the Giancarlo Stanton/Carlos Gonzalez category, depending on who becomes available.  In talking to Mets people on Monday, it was clear that remained true, and that a midseason trade would not preclude the team from pursuing a free agent like Shin-Soo Choo this winter.

I stated that because your original comment with that comment I felt implied that you think/thought my article was not legit.

Your first comment stated, they would never do that deal, then you ask for a link to verify.  I may be connecting dots incorrectly but make sense why I thought that?

Obviously now neither team would do this deal, I was just reliving revisionist history.  My argument a year ago was, Ike stinks, and will be this player his whole career.  If you could get a potential MVP to a team that was above 500, then may be they could contend.  Short Sided yes, but I want to win and see great players play for my team.

Well I will say that the Tigers GM is much smarter than any of the writers, spitballing out there.  That he doesn't go out all out and sign Prince Fielder to a massive contract to simply go the opposite way.  As you said, he didn't.

He doubled down again and went out and got Annibal Sanchez for a rookie OF.

However at some point Stanton will be made available by the Marlins.  Essentially the Mets will have to empty the farm to get him.  Will that get them by the Braves or the Nationals?  I dunno.

I agree on Dombrowski.  That kind of thing happens in every city if their team is floundering around this time of year.

Now that things have gone down a bit, not sure I want Stanton.  Would love to get Cargo, but dont think we have enough.

I know Mariano is Mariano, but after falling behind 2-0 to Wright with an open first base, don't you walk him? With what he did the night before, I'd walk him right out the gate, but after falling behind 2-0? I think you have to. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but I was surprised at the time.

A glimpse into the future.  Wheeler lived up to the scouting report, great stuff, a little wild.

Wow, when you trade for a career .240 hitter and he is an upgrade, that is a sad state of affairs.
