Parnell did just fine last night after Hawkins let 3 runs come in.  Or was it 4?

I just remember Twitter would blow up every time Parnell came into a game last year.

It was better and funnier to watch on Twitter than actually watch his performances on TV.

  I don't use my Twitter account that often but every time he came in, I was right there.  Hell, towards the end of the season we were hoping someroner would drag Ronnie out of the broadcast booth & let him close games. Its not like he could do any worse, and it would have been nice to see him on the mound again.

I wore the new shirt at my gig on Saturday. The best part is that the bar has a lot of Yankees paraphernalia up.

What's the over under on how many games before they dip below .500 for the remainder of the season ?

I had some friends put it at 3 before the season started (only after I reminded them of Mets opening day success  )

Gonna make it to at least 11

I expect them to play decent until mid summer.  Hover around .500 again.  Then fade late.

But ....

He is only 23.

So lemme get this straight.  The young talent we acquired, the two players who are supposed to be "the future of this team", one of which we traded away last years Cy Young award winner for, you want to dump for an outfielder for a team that will almost certainly not make the playoffs this year?  Really???

Yes, we need outfielders.  No question.  But, will that one bat make any real difference in this team right now?  Are we one bat away from the post season?  I don't think so.

Now, I have grown to be infatuated with a potential Schilling/Johnson type 1-2 punch at the top of the order, and I wouldn't want to give it up just yet. The fact that his team is not making the playoffs is irrelevant. Doesn't make him any less of a player. And he's 23, so this wouldn't be a trade for just this year. It would be acquiring the type of slugger you can build your lineup around for years to come.

The net result is Dickey for Stanton. We already have a run-producing catcher in Buck. It might hurt to lose the pitching prospect, but we have an immediate need for a an outfielder who can hit. I reluctantly say I'm in favor of the trade.

More like Beltran and Dickey for Stanton. Which I still wouldn't mind. Except I think the Mets stole Wheeler from SF. When he got here he instantly became the Mets best pitching prospect, and that included Matt Harvey.

Don't make judgments on Buck so quickly. He's never had a better start. He'll probably come back to his normal level of play and D'Arnaud will be a step-up.

Why not see it as trading prospects for better prospects.  Or even Dickey and Beltran, instead of young guys who "MAY" be something in the future.  Stanton is a stud.  The prospects we have project to be good players with Wheeler having a higher ceiling.  Not many in baseball period have Stanton's ceiling.

This is not me last year asking to trade for Miggy who is 31.  This is a guy who has hit 34 and 37 HRs the last two years and he is 23 years old.

To answer your question if it helps the team right now.  Absolutely.

Is Wheeler and D'naurd a gaurentee to win in the future?  I don't think so.

PS.  This isnt a move for this year, this would be a move for next year and years to come.  A corner stone in the lineup hitting 35 bombs.

So get ready for something to happen by the deadline or next offseason.  In my opinion, when there is this much smoke (easpecially early in the season), there is some truth to the rumors.  (with another 38 mill coming off the books)...

Mets keeping tabs on Carlos Gonzalez

The Mets have a pulse on the situationregarding Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, reports the New York Daily News. While the Rockies have given no indication about their plans for Gonzalez if they fall out of the playoff race, the News reports Mets executives have an interest in 27-year-old outfielder.

I'm counting 10 players instead of 9. Why come Duda gets to bat 4 times without plodding around in the outfield like big jobroni?

Spring training is over. Why they playing AL Central team? This aggression will not stand, man.
