Yes and Yes.
Dickey is the front runner. Ceuto is #2 and he lost his last start. Although Chapman is the dark horse. May be them to will steal each others votes being on the same team, and help Dickey.

My thoughts on the season.
Dickey had a nice season. 4 starts left, and neck and neck with Gio for Cy Young.
Ike has come around, but those first two months were brutal.
What happened to David Wright the last month or so?
Either keep David Murphy or Tejada, as they have the same bat, with no power. One has to go.
Jason Bay is still awful.
I still think Pelfrey will want a new start elsewhere after he turns down arbitration.
We need an upgrade at Catcher, all three outfield spots, 2b or SS, bull pen and closer.
I still think 2015 is a realistic timeline for having a real chance to win the world series. Wake me then.

Another Pathetic move by ownership. I heard to keep the Mets in Buffalo would have cost money, and anything close to the Mets would have cost about 20 million dollars over the course of any agreement.
Now going down to AAA, is pretty decent. I bet players will want to do rehabs in Vegas.

The Mets had been affiliated with Buffalo the past four seasons in the International League. Buffalo prioritized winning, whereas the Mets wanted more of a balance between wins and losses and player development, a Mets official said. Still, it was Buffalo's call to part ways.
Toronto, which formerly called Las Vegas home, will take over in Buffalo.

MLB and the AAA affiliates renew their contracts every two years. Buffalo wanted to ditch the Mets, and no team wanted Las Vegas. The dorky girl and boy went to the dance together by default.
Do not fool yourself. Vegas was the cheapest option. and it is 2500 miles away from NYC.
This move was based on CASH. Nothing else.
Next time we need an emergency starter there will be no way they could get someone in time to call up, and whomever it is they call may have jet lag on top of that.

The funny thing is I am a very positive person. My cup is usually over flowing.
For example I am on board with the Jets. While I do not expect them to win the super bowl, I am on board for the ride.

Not just yet.... he'll be going for #21 early next week.
20 is the magic number. 21 is nice, but who cares?
The season has been over since the all star break.
Sorry for being so negative this season, but my negativity was matched by the play on the field which I expected for this season.
With all that said, and the way the season has played out...
I think TC has to go. I am not ok with re upping him for one more year so he is not a lame duck.
I will not be upset if he does come back but I do not think TC is a winning manager.
I say fire TC, and bring in Scioscia.

I think Ike will be ok at first. Took him two months to get back into form after missing most of last season.
I do not like Duda enough. I think he is a 4th outfielder and back up 1st baseman. Good utility player at best.

next year is going to be just as bad, if not worse. no spending on the outfield, no spending on the catcher, but we add some more young pitching.
I feel no different in Sept 2012 than I did in Spet 2011. another year or two of this, and then, MAYBE they start to invest in on field talent.

If this is what you expected, then why have you been acting like Eeyore the whole season? I don't think any of us expected anything more. To be fair, I was thrilled with the start the Mets made, and not really surprised when things petered out after the All Star Break. I always hope for it, but I knew this wasn't going to be a winning season.
Thoughts on TC coming back?
Fine with me. I like Terry and I'm sick of the managers' revolving door.

I love how the prevailing wisdom is always "The team's playing like shit. Let's fire the guy who's not on the field."

While you are correct, the team can not usually fire it's best players who did not live up to their contract.
I.E., Jason Bay.
His contract is guaranteed.
What usually happens is management will think may be a different voice or approach can help revive our investment in this player, cause the current guy is not getting the job done.
And what do you call a revolving door?
The last 4 managers have been around on average for 3 years. Only Willie had a winning record. Bobby V was hear 6 years, and he had a winning record.

Seeing Money Ball and Art Howe's attitude portrayed in the movie, of this is my team and I will manage it how I see fit, and not play nicely with Billy Beane. It just reminded me of how bad Art was when he was the Mets Manager.
My point is if you aren't getting the job done, time to move on.
While TC did ok managing this club, shouldn't he be responsible for how bad they played in the second half?
I mean at one point they were 4-25 at home in the second half and The Nats and Braves both had 5 wins at Citifield in the second half alone.
I think TC has to take some blame for the poor play.
PS. Remember this off season moves will be based on $$$$. See already the move to Vegas for the AAA affiliate.

Edwin Jackson, Ryan Dempster, Shaun Marcum, Francisco Liriano, Anibal Sanchez, Brandon McCarthy, Jake Peavy, and Dan Haren
I like all of them except Liriano.

I agree. but i call bullshit on the way managers get treated when a team hits the skids as if they're the only ones with any accountability. Shit happens, teams hit slumps even in the big leagues. Everyone's responsible. The manager doesn't go out there & swing that bat, throw that pich or catch that fly ball for you, that's on the players.
I think TC has to take some blame for the poor play.
Some, but not all. I think the players should be shouldering a healthy amount of the blame since they're the ones out on the filed, you know... playing. (or whatever they're calling it these days)
I'd prefer Collins stick around, I like him. Just one fan's opinion. Though I did find myself playing "what if the Mets had brough back Davey Johnson?" more than once this season.

I did notice. We just need to photoshop a little Mets cap on him.
As far a TC staying or going, my preference is that he stay. I do think he's a good manager and better suited to the team than Willie, Art or Jerry (though I did like Jerry as a manager, just not with the Mets).
Yes, they've been bad the past 2 years. Very, very bad. I don't know if they quit on Terry (I tend to not think so) or if its because the black cloud that seems to have enveloped the whole organization is rubbing off on everyone involved. I don't think anyone knows for sure, least of all us fans since we're not privy to the inner workings.
I'm just gonna do what I've done for the past several season, hope that next year will be a damn sight better. I'll be back in April, cheering my team on.
