No I heard Saban (I think that is their GM) called LaRussa and asked for Posey to not catch Dickey. How ever Larussa handles it is up to him. Having Posey catch Cain is easier for him. But it is true they did call and ask (at leats this is what Evan Joe were saying on WFAN yesterday).

12 games against teams the Mets are in direct competition with for a postseason spot, including the only teams between them and 1st place in the NL East.

acceptable: 3-3 on the road trip, 4-2 at home. a 7-5 run against this competition shows they mean business. anything less is a bad, bad sign. they really need to go 4-2 v. the Nats, and start chipping away at the division lead.

preferable: 4-2 on the road trip, 4-2 or better at home. 8-4 sends the message that the Mets will be around come September, and will encourage Alderson to make a smart move or two, knowing the team isn't looking to fold.

oh, i'm an ass and forgot that the Royals, not the Rangers, hosted this year's all-star game. ignore my obvious lack of interest in the all-star game. even next year, i don't really care to go, though i'll probably watch it as it's at "home". i'd have some fun at the HR Derby, though...left field landing FTW.

I wasn't paying close attention this weekend, but I get the impression that they were beaten by Parnell on Saturday and C.B. Bucknor on Sunday.

This. The Mets have not looked good since hosting Philly. Parnell's S last Saturday was a rare bright spot. Need to turn this around quickly or it'll be dark days ahead.

So I watched Harvey pitch last night (HOORAY for minor league games on an off day). He wasn't bad, Didn't give up a hit till the 6th and pitched outta a couple of jams. I'm just concerned that big league hitters will be able to tag 'em better than the minor league ones did. With our bullpen in the shape it's in, we need guys who can get to the 7th..even the 8th.

Getting into the 9th would be ideal...but not realistic for today's pitchers. Complete games are a bit of a rarity these days.

Matt Harvey (is it official yet) can be all that and a bag of donuts, but if we cant hold a late lead it will not matter how good he is the rest of the year.

I think the problem with Parnell is he is so stuck on his 98+ fast ball. There were lots of pitchers who had 98+ stuff, but somehow scaled back to 92-94 with more control and movement. Parnell fastball has no movement.

His curve looked good last night. Fast ball looked good the the Nats.

And when every one was telling me to stop pooping on a good May/June run, I told you this team did not have the legs to make a real run.

Especially now with 3/5th's of the opening day rotation on the DL.

BTW Miggy hit 2 more out today.

Hitting with a hot pitcher and good bulpen wins in october.

I like tejada but with him and murphy, thole not hitting for power we need power in the lineup to produce more runs.
