And Dickey, Niese and TaKKahashi came in?
If the Mets had a lights-out closer they'd be a killing machine.
Niese has been in the rotation since week 2, when they needed a 5th starter.
but Dickey and TaKKKKKKahashi have been awesome.

his last year as Mets closer, he saved 27 games. he also blew 7 saves. K-Rod's good for that.
I know, but for some reason I always felt much more comfortable with Billy on the mound than I do with K-Rod. Any closer's going to blow some saves, but K-Rod scares that crap out of me more often than not.

If not, there should be. And Nuthatch should get some of it too for mentioning the L-word. I had managed to block his time with the Mets from my memory and now its back.

Armando's shining moment at Shea Stadium was his 12th-inning masterpiece, balking home Jose Reyes (from 2nd base!), then surrendering a mammoth solo HR to Carlos Delgado to turn a one-run win into a one-run loss for the visiting San Francisco Giants. i will never, NEVER forget it. i called the dinger immediately following the balk. so he did leave us Mets fans with a sweet parting gift.

yeah, somebody can. the Mets.
right now we're seeing a late-90's renaissance, with the Braves and Mets. i love when these two teams heat up, because they really hate each other far worse than the Phils and Mets do.
there's nothing like beatin' the Braves in September to put a smile on a Mets fan's face.

It's only June. We're a half game back. Still a long season ahead of us. I know it's going to be a three way battle or the NL East. The Marlins (back 7.5) and the Nats (back 8) are slowly but surely falling away. Not sure what we're going to do with Maine once he comes off the DL. Guess Takahashi's next few starts will determine that.

if you asked at the beginning of the season if I would accept this reocrd and standing now, i would have said yes.
they are starting to play some grerat baseball, and just in time for the dog days of summer.
I don't care what the result is against the yankees, but I'm glad krod shut me up last night, and that they are beating teams they SHOULD.

dear god, that's 7 in a row on the road. i like that a lot.
especially nice as the Braves and Phils keep winning. the psychological edge of winning all these road games has got to do wonders for a team that up 'til now hadn't produced anything away from home.
of course, tomorrow's game starts 5 minutes after i take the stage at Stonehenge.

Well Mets fans, it's too early to make any predictions but in general I'm liking what I'm seeing.
Nice work from all the starters except for Maine (I'm going to assume Santana just had a bad day), the bullpen is looking good, defense is looking good, just wish the bats were a little hotter. Should be an interesting season. Let's go Mets!

I don't think you should be quite so vocal after the thrashing your guys took from the Phils last week. I mean.. the Yanks got shut down by Grandpa Jamie and what is he?? 103???

Losing 2 out of 3 isn't a thrashing. Besides, I saw that pic the other day and thought it was hilarious. Kind of like this one too...

mets are fvked by mlb every year by having to play yankees 6 times
unfair disadvantage that no other nl teams they are competing with for division or wild card have to endure
sure- great they went 3 - 3 but still unfair
surprised ive never heard any mets fans complain
will be a very rare year when mets are actually better than yankees and can break 500 against them

Atlanta just keeps WINNING.
Detroit and Minnesota coming to town this week, a return to the friendly confines of Citi Field. Braves out at Comiskey to face the White Sox, then they host the Tigers, as well. Phillies have two home series, first hosting the Indians and then it's home games 82/83/84 as they host the Blue Jays (who will play as the "home" team). i hope they lose all three games just so we can stop bitching about the fact that they have three extra home games.
