I like the charm of the team we have now. The charm of winning games comfortably and not having to reach for the tums in the 7th inning.

Least when these Mets lose, they get their asses handed to 'em early enough that I can go do something else w/the rest of my night.

St. Louis opens the scoring with an RBI single by Craig. Gee stands up tall, induces a double play and the Mets will come back to bat after a nifty defensive turn.

Cards 1-0 Mets, mid 4th.

yeah, this is good to see. hitting HRs at home...must be the new blue walls.

offense aside, both pitchers are buzzing through the first 5 innings. 66 pitches for Lohse, 68 for Gee, each having 15 recorded outs. great stuff, old-timey NL baseball at its best. this could be a 2-hour game.

 well, 3 runs through 7 innings = quality start for sure. Lohse is out of the game too, so let's see if the Mets can damage the Cards 'pen once again and turn this into a W.

Cards 3-1 Mets, mid 7th.

Gameday tell us that the Cards' Rz(whatever the rest of his name is) has pitched 15 pitches and his effectiveness drops after that.

So likely new one for bottom of 8th?

Can't win every game. Gee was solid for most of his performance. We went 3-1 against last years World Series champs. The L was hung on Rauch. And we've got 3 games against the Nats comin up that if we win, we'll be solidly in first in the division.

All is good. :)

Word on Ramirez is that is usually gets a little overwhelmed at first appearance or two, and then dominates that level. Let's juts hope that works at the major league level. He had same MO at all minor league stops this year.

I think Ramirez getting three strikeouts in his first inning was a good sign.

WTF happened to the defense last night? That was horrendous. Parnell should have shut that shit down. If I were him I would have balked in the winning run and given Valdespin & Murphy the finger as I walked off the field.

Fixed that for ya. That 9th inning was ugly!

oofa!

When does Ike start playing better? I think it is more than two weeks since I brought up bringing in Miggy for 3 years at 20 mill. All I got was no way, believe in Ike. Ike is about to breakout.

I still hold out hope and will root for Ike as long as he is on the 25 man roster, but patience is wearing thin.
