Good or bad,The Mets are my team. And I'll keep rootin for 'em...even if they stink. What else am I gonna do...root for The Yankees?? NOT happening!
Go Brewers?

Just because your team plays poorly, doesn't mean you stop rooting for 'em. Ask Vic what it was like to root for the Phillies from '87 through 2000 (excluding 1993). Nothing better than a 3rd place finish in all almost 15 years (and a loss in the World Series in 1993). You think he stopped rooting for his team?

If that's what we win, then that's what we win. So long as we see our young players improving their games.

Ya know....
I've heard some rumblings about people wanting a DH in the National League. Seems it's the only place left where pitchers hit.
Posted 07 March 2012 - 08:25 PM
Other than their really young pitching, Duda, and Ike what other young players do we have that could improve enough to make a difference next year?
Tejeda? I think he is a bench player at best, also think he is going to be exposed this year playing everyday.
Thole? I thought last year was his year to prove he could do it every day. Dont think he did enough. .268 3 40
Murphy has been around long enough to know what he is. Great bat, below average fielder.
Parnell - same. I think he will always be a Kyle Farnsworth at best. Great fast ball, no movement, and not much else.

I wouldnt consider Murphy's batting great. Good sure. Very good, maybe he will become one. Not great. Good to very good bat and below average fielder. He's got little power and his obp isnt impressive. No where near great.
And it might be too early to give up on Thole, some players take a little longer and its not like he had any help in that lineup last year.
How about Turner?
I was pretty impressed by him last year. Looking forward to seeing more of him. Of course if he shows any promise, the poor guy's probably trade bait.

If they're not careful, it's going to look like the Mets play in that park.

I'll be there opening day. I get tix for my nephew every year to a game every year and this years game is opening day. My nephew is VERY excited about going to this. It's worth the few extra sheckles to see the kid happy.
(He's already asked me if he can get a program so he can keep score (I taught 'em bout keeping score at last years game) and a yearbook)

empty wiffle ball field? you're right, let's get a gang of adults together instead and have a tournament.

And I just submitted a reqeust to the scoreboard people to get a Happy Birthday wish up onto the screen for my nephew. Hopefully I'm one of the first 25 to submit requests for that day. The boy would just flip if he saw his name up on that screen!

"And in other Mets news, a rowdy group of drunken fans were physically removed from the t-ball field and ejected from Citifield. Other fans in attendance were overgheard expressing their displeasure as, apparently, the antics in the t-ball area were much more interesting that what was happening on the field."

oh yeah, i totally forgot! i'm definitely gonna throw their hat in that ring if i get to steal them for the day.

Here's the info for doin it:
Fan birthday and anniversary announcements will be displayed on the Right Field scoreboard, directly above the Pepsi Porch, during the middle of the 4th to end 5th inning breaks of each game. Requests are accepted by e-mail to scoreboard@nymets.com or by letter, mailed to: New York Mets, Attn: Scoreboard Messages, Citi Field, Flushing, NY 11368-1699. Each e-mail and letter received must include the date it was sent, and the date for which the scoreboard message is intended. Requests should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the desired game day. The first 25 message requests received for each game will be displayed, subject to approval. The Mets will not display messages that are commercial in nature, or that contain inappropriate language or nicknames. Groups that purchase 25 or more tickets through the Mets Group Sales Office are eligible for a scoreboard welcome and can arrange that through their Group Sales Account Representative. For assistance with the purchase of Group Tickets, please call the Mets Ticket Office at (718) 507-TIXX.

I think confirmation of this by their father should be sufficient.

Until ownership changes I expect more of this.
Wilpons = Dolan
2012 - 2013 Mets = 2000's Knicks
#realistic
Posted 12 March 2012 - 07:35 PM
The 2000s Knicks are like the 90s Mets. Lots of overpaid, selfish players. Paralyzed by bad contracts. Bad coaching decisions.
Mets are paralyzed because their owners are a bunch of crooks. Not because they signed a bunch of bad free agents.

hey, everyone has a bad contract when you trying to run a baseball team with a piggy bank.
you need some big time players, and Wright and Santana are that. You have to pay them. Injuries have made the contracts look worse, but you can't pay everyone like a day laborer.
