stupid mets :carla:

thanks for all the updates goP

my "pleasure".

it was pleasurable 'til the end, anyway.

every road series this year, the Mets have won one, lost two. that's NOT going to get us to the postseason. so frustrating.

That's because Minaya's an idiot. Why he's still around is beyond me. He should have been sacked by now.

I've been told the Mets have the best record at home in the majors. But they're only winning 1/3 of their road games. If they can keep it up at home and start winning on the road, they'll have a shot.

I was at yesterdays game. GREAT game!

Had seats in the Excelsior level, and watched the game from "the tiers" (front tier too) of the Acela Lounge. OMG the food was SOOO good in there. So wild to be sitting in a nice restaurant, eating an incredible brunch, and be able to watch the game out a giant picture window in front of ya. They broadcast Gary, Keith, and Ron into the restaurant during the game which is really nice too. Wasn't exactly cheap but, SO worth it if you ever have the opportunity. My suggestion is to shoot for the last possible reservation time, that way you can sit and chill in those seats till the end of the game without worrying that they need to get you out to seat someone else.

Nice! We had dinner in Acela last time we went and you're right-- the food is amazing! We didn't have the cool tier seats, but we were close enough to the glass to see a good bit of the field & had 2 TV monitors right near us. Hoping to do it again this season. Def. beats the hell out of the Diamond Club @ Shea.

look, the bottom line on Ollie is that any one of us can get out there, walk seven batters and hit one in three-plus innings. the guy's got a ton of talent and no head whatsoever.

he's getting paid $12 million this season to be ineffective. let him be ineffective at Triple A.

hey, look. we're in a statistical tie for 2nd place with the Nats, starting a four-game series with them here at home tonight, and only two back of the first-place Phils. we just took a series from a very tough Giants team, Ollie doesn't pitch again 'til Friday at the earliest, so there's a great chance we win 3 of these 4 games and who knows what's next?

I still say Takahashi should have Perez's spot in the rotation. We've been watching Ollie for years now, he's not gonna get any better, this is how he pitches.

I've always been willing to give Perez a break on his performance but the whole "Good Ollie/Bad Ollie" thing is really getting to me. He needs to get some consistency going somehow, even if it means pulling him from the rotation for a while so he can get his shit together. Considering his price tag, 3.2 innings and 7 walks ain't gonna cut it.

yup. he can be a $12M middle reliever. he's making the money anyway, may as well have him earn it in the best interest of the team.

i was hoping that after wright got ejected they would have tied it.

no bench players left, and if they tied it a pitcher would have been in the field. i'm all for people being fired up, but know what's going on. who is he, Ollie Perez? speaking of which, start with getting the guy a psychologist.

sometimes you gotta take the ejection. he was right on, and in that situation, best he speak up rather than take that bullshit. good for him, pitcher in the field be damned.

i disagree. Obviously his bad day at the plate got the better of him... baseball is knowing, and reacting to situations. he failed on both counts. I may be wrong, cause I'm trying not to remember, but it was 2-0 and 3-1 when he was a day late on those fastballs, right? hit the fastball, that's why you're playing big league ball.

I think he's lucky that they didn't tie the game, i think he'd be getting killed today. and I don't want to hear any 'leadership' talk about him anymore either. his head is obviously too far up his own ass to know where the team is, in the game.

ya...wright has to know better there despite sucking it up for 3 straight games. i know he never gets pissed so you want to see that from him from time to time but that was NOT the situation to blow up in. mets tie it and bay has to go to 3B and then a pitcher in left. not cool.

i agree that wright must have some serious mental stuff going on (started last year). he's too good to be this inconsistent where he hits 485 for 10 games and then 130 for the next 8 with 22 Ks.

Somebody should tell Wright not to swing for the fences at Shea 2.0. The outfield is plenty big for a power hitter to use effectively.

On the other hand, maybe somebody should just SIIHB.

thank god they were losing earlier. i had a shit-ton of homework to do for this weekend's performances, so when they went down 6-1, i gracefully muttered "horse shit!" and flipped off the TV (literally and figuratively) kinda glad because at least i was ready to get to work.

this morning when i came in to the office, i had to cover for my assistant who normally runs the morning papers, but is out today. i saw the back cover of the Daily News ("Party Animal!") and yelled "THEY WON!?!?!" then realized i was in a library, but everyone laughed anyway.

The team is getting younger and stronger. Thole being up here, even though he hasn't had any play time yet, is going to get some serious tutelage from Barajas. Ike looks like the best thing to happen to the Mets since David Wright.

And I LOVE that we have a kid on our team who's nickname is "The Animal."
