nothing like Johan and K-Rod to shut down the fightin' Phils. we'd love to see 'em take the rubber game, and provide a lil momentum into next week's homestand.

so the playoffs aren't in reach anymore...let's enjoy the games when they're good and laugh at 'em when they're not. there's always next year. there's always paying someone to bump off the Mets' brass, too. :bang:

Takahashi shows you what he's made of, Manuel continues to manage like an idiot and krod beats his father-in-law about the face.

great night in Queens.

Manuel should have left his "8th inning guy" in. Let's see if Tak can finish the inning. I bet he could have.

K-Rod should have punched Manual, Niese should be able to punch just about the whole team and our version of MMW (Manual, Minaya and Wilpon) should all step aside.

embarrassing

Actually, one of the Wilpons was quoted as saying they're sticking with Minaya after this season. :plain:

And Beltran's last hit was a double on 8/7.

i do hope you're kidding.

Jerry Manuel is an awful manager. he doesn't have control of his clubhouse, he has no idea how to use a bullpen properly, and he often comes off as baseball ignorant when dealing with the media. enough's enough. Willie had to go, i know. but Jerry Manuel should've been around just long enough to get ourselves a real manager.

and Omar, as we know, is the biggest problem of them all.

see what happens when you let Johan stay in the game into the 7th, 8th inning? he comes up CLUTCH and helps his own cause.

4-0 to the good guys, end 7th.

No way. Jerry has to have Feliciano & Parnell get in some work and face three batters each.

Wow... 3 hits, 10 K, 2 BB. Nice game. How can our boys snatch defeat from the jaws of victory today?

oh, and anyone else wanna see Ruben Tejada head down to AA ball for the rest of the year and learn how to hit? the boy can field, but he doesn't have a major-league bat.

You'd rather have Castillo playing? Gimme the D and energy that Tejada brings. I'll deal with the sub 200 avg from the 8 spot

i'd rather Tejada learn how to hit, mature into a .280-300 hitter, and be the Mets starting 2nd baseman for the next 15 years. i'm willing to wait a year to see that. being overmatched at this level is no way to teach a kid how to hit.

22 Hs vs. 22 Ks in 135 plate appearances with only 7 walks = hurting us, pretty badly in fact. .191 is simply not acceptable, i don't care how many gold gloves you're gonna win. ask Rey Ordonez.

i dunno. i just feel that right now the best player (on our roster) to be at 2b is tejada and NOT castillo. it doesn't always come down to numbers.

oh..and hessman needs to be sent down but i dont know who would be brought up. we have no other backup 3B

for an all-star returning from the DL into the middle of a pennant (ha!) race, 3-for-4 is progress.

for a rookie trying to stay in the bigs, .191 isn't going to cut it. getting a hit every sixth at-bat doesn't improve ANYTHING about the kid's game, but it can do a nice job of unscrewing a young players' mind. do that long enough, and you'll never quite get it on straight again.

bringing up talent that's simply not ready is a time-tested signifier that a manager's about to get the axe because his team is underperforming. he's got EVERYONE healthy (in the field, anyway) and he's trying to mix it up with kids who can't hit the ball beyond AA level. to any other GM, that'd be the sure-fire time to cut the cord.

Busy Saturday.

If it's a day game, then can't make it.

Night game... probably not but I'd consider it... I was envisioning this as something later... once the nice weather leaves central NY and I can't dawdle around the pond.

Thanks!
