Nice work from all the starters except for Maine (I'm going to assume Santana just had a bad day), the bullpen is looking good, defense is looking good, just wish the bats were a little hotter. Should be an interesting season. Let's go Mets!

the ace sucked, SUCKED against the biggest rival.
they are in the middle of a 3 game losing streak.
I don't believe the medical results on Pelfrey. these idiots have fucked up injuries and the PR surrounding them for YEARS now.
I'm still 100% frustrated by injury nonsense, performance inconsistency, mediocre expectations and misguided leadership.
after the last couple years i refuse to be a kool-aid drinker, and I've been a fan of this club long enough to know that "believe" is really just a recipe for an ulcer.

The second inning Chase Field match up of Julio Franco hitting against Randy Johnson marks the oldest hitter-pitcher confrontation in big league history. With a mere 92+ years of age between the two of them, the nearly 49-year old Mets first baseman takes the Diamondback southpaw, four months shy of 44, deep to extend his own record as the oldest player to homer, and with his ninth inning swipe of second he continues to be the oldest to steal a base.

Niese pitches today! gotta love watching the kid earn his stripes. 12:35pm game, so we'll use this thread for chatter, cool?
oh, and is it just me, or does Mr. Redlegs look like Mr. Met's creepy old-timey uncle?
Would you let your children even close to that guy???
We all know who the best baseball head guy is!!!

I see no reason why the Mets cant achieve this, because the NL is pretty mediocre. And Philly has holes too (no pun intended)
And Ike Davis is the man:wook:

except for the gigantic lack of effort in not covering first base, and letting the runner beat you there. no need to have 1st & 3rd, there.
fundamentals.
shame on him.
hey, we loaded the bases with one out and scored a run on a walk! then Reyes and Bay failed to drive home anyone else...disappointing. but a run's a run, and Cueto's now thrown 63 pitches through just 3 innings.
Mets 1-0 Reds, mid 3rd.

the Mets score a run in that inning
that's right, they did score a run.
then surrendered two in the bottom half of the fourth.
then, with 2nd and 3rd, one out, managed to score ONE more run in the top of the fifth. i don't know what to say about Jason Bay - last year the guy was an RBI machine in Boston. he's stranded 5 runners in his last two at-bats here today.

the bay grace period is getting old fast
the Bay grace period is over. these numbers are unacceptable, and i've never seen anyone LESS clutch than he's been during his tenure in blue & orange. pretty soon he's going to start being booed at Citi Field, and that's not going to make his job any easier. when Beltran gets healthy, if Bay's still not producing (i realize that's 2 months away), you'll probably see Pagan in left, regardless of Bay's contract.
