We eat a lot of salads - fresh crisp veg = the yum! Lately tho, I have been craving one salad in particular.

In an effort to simplify, I've been slicing hearts of Romaine right down the middle and serving each half as a wedge dressed simply with really good olive oil and balsamic vinegar, sea salt, and fresh cracked pepper, and gorgonzola crumbles. That's it, that's all, and it has captured my imagination so much that I have been craving it every day for the past week!

The dressing seeps down in amongst the leaves and the cheese crumbles decorate the top of the cut leaves. It is as pretty as it tastes good! :)

Just had some again tonight with dinner and I am still in love with this wedge salad... I wonder how long this fascination will last? I think I may space it out with some other salads just so I don't get too familiar with it. I love it so much I want it to remain special!

What're your current cravings? How long have they been going on for?

That sounds really good!

My current craving is for the weather to turn so that gardening can fully commence again in the northeast! Nothing like fresh basil and tomato from your garden!

Oh, I am jonesing to get planting, too - going to be so nice to have homegrown eats again!

Give the salad a try - so easy and so good. I never really understood what a difference GOOD balsamic vinegar can make! I think this will be the salad I serve at our next dinner gathering.

my favorite food in the whole world is a fried egg sandwich on sourdough bread. with a bit of cheese. i like the egg yolk runny so that it soaks into the bread. hands down my favorite.

so... being gluten free these past three years has been challenging! i miss my egg sammies... so if you eat one, think of me :)

that said, i can't get enough asparagus right now! damn, it's good.

MUSSELS!!!

Just cooked up the few that were leftover from last night's paella-a-thon and I have to say that this batch was prolly the best (freshest) we have had since being in Nova Scotia and PEI last spring.

Now I'm tempted to pick up some more for tomorrow night's dinner - OMGSOGOOD!

Mangoes! Mangoes and smoked cheddar cheese are my current food cravings. Fortunately, mangoes are in-season, and we just got a smoker, so we are going to try smoking some cheese soon - maybe this weekend.

Not together, mind. :funny1:

Smoothies. I started adding a 1/2 cup of quick oats, and combined with fruit, coconut milk, and almond milk, it's so good. It's like eating fruity creamy oatmeal, but cold. Okay, that probably sounds gross but trust me.

kinda silly, especially this time of year when all you can get are new/soft shell lobsters. Even during hard shell season, you are wasting money to go above 1.5#ers. It's a nice novelty to crack into a monster lobster, but you pay a premium for it and unless it's peak hard shell season, the quality of meat on that large lobster won't match the smaller ones. You'll pay more per # for that 2.5# and up Lobster and actually get less meat overall than buying say two 1.5#ers. During the current soft shell season, it's an even bigger loss in value going with the large "trophy" bug than sticking to the smaller ones.

If you read this before you go and aren't fully settled on going to a particular place, I suggest you take your dad to Brown's.

Markey's across the street has a much better view and I like the vibe there a bit better, but Brown's is BYOB!

If I was to go out for a hot lobstah dinner hear on the seacoast, there a dozens of shacks to choose from; I think Brown's is probably the best overall value.

I didn't read it first but we went to Chauncy Creek in Kittery- also BYOB and sat next to the water in the shade...a lovely afternoon- I engorged myself. Abby was horrified by the lobster juice squirting everywhere- that alone was worth the drive.

I like the way you think.

Swordfish and tuna steaks on the grill.  Maybe a few dozen littlenecks as a warmup.
