I just bought Real Simple Weddings...am so looking forward to planning this!

YEah!!! Congrats again. What type of a wedding are you planning on? Do you know when you might have it?

well, we're thinking next summer. All I know for sure is that I want purple hydrangeas. we both have a ton of family, so we have a lot of discussions coming about what to do. I insist on having children there, because it's a celebration of our families joining together as well, and I want everyone. And I love kids, they make me happy.
anyway, that's all I've got so far.
A possible color scheme, and kids.

I LOVE hydrangeas! I never knew what they were until I bought a few last year and they are so beautiful. I'm praying they come back again this year.

I personally think kids at weddings is awesome. Our wedding was filled with kids running around and having a blast. It was all outside and a daytime affair so it would have been weird NOT to have kids there.

We planted some bushes in the front yard garden. I'm hoping that they hurry up and grow into beautiful bountiful bushes like at the Cape!

so it just started occurring to me...the amount of money/time/planning...all that. (i guess the excitement wore off a bit and the reality of planning this thing set in)

How does one stay calm???

We are calm.

What size of a wedding are you doing? We are only having 50 people. Maybe that's why we are so calm.

well, with immediate family alone, it's over 100. I think it'll be more like over 150 when we put the whole thing together. I have no idea how we can afford that.

We saved people by not getting into cousins. If we added cousins, that was like, another 30 people. Maybe make your initial list, and then cut down from that?

And you can keep it really simple too- rent a park pavilion, have a p*tluck, there are cheap and nice ways to do it.

Exactly. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard my coworker say they are getting a deal on $100 a plate per person.

We're paying like, $40 a person. And I thought that was expensive.

$100 per person?!?!?!????? Yeah no thanks. I believe we paid $22 per person back in 2003. That was a hell of a deal even then.

The girl I work with has also been bitching about going into debt. So glad we aren't doing something crazy like that!
