Portobello mushroom caps sauteed in red wine, garlic and olive oil, topped with a stuffing of diced shrimp sauteed in olive oil with garlic, cilantro, green onion, roasted red pepper and some bread crumbs to bind it all together. Top with a slice of havarti and pop it under the broiler for a few minutes, side with fresh green salad and you've got a great dinner for the 4th game of the Stanley Cup!

Cream of broccoli soup (it desperately wanted a bread bowl, but nothing of the kind found here) and thick slices of fresh hot honey-oatmeal bread.

Got the makings of French Onion Soup on the go this afternoon... not very summer-y, I know, but we were given a whole whack of onions... And we have some stale bread that needs to get used up, so this fits the bill. Add a fresh green salad and a cold beer and serve it on the deck and it'll be summer-y enough, methinks!

yum!! we've been grilling up a storm lately. last nite, Diddy made perrrrfectly cooked shrimp on the grill - with parsley from the garden, butter, lemon, salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes. MMM!! perfect perfect perfect. then we made some awesome cheeseburgers with fresh basil (again from the garden, yay), tomato and onion on seedy rolls. it's the simple things...... *sigh*

Definitely want to make that one for some guests... I'm thinking of having a little Persian New Year gathering next spring. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't too difficult, either... Just takes a lot of steps to put together. It's on my favourites list now!

Mahogany roast chicken - baste a chicken with a sauce made of 2 tbs each of brown sugar, dry vermouth, and balsamic vinegar for the last 30 minutes of roasting - comes out dark brown and sooooo tasty!

Add a little water to deglaze the roasting pan and serve with the resulting sauce. Nom, nom, nom...

Lola, sounds awesome!! (both the chicken and the dawgs)

i've been cookin up a storm lately with my daughter and her boyfriend here - braised short ribs (1st time ever) with gnocchi and a marinated bean salad. sofa king yum!

last night i made fried grouper fish fingers, maggie made tartar sauce, quinoa with fresh corn, thyme and garlic chives and a salad from the garden with cukes, tomatoes, avacados, balsamic.

another night we had salmon on a bed of fresh spinach with lemons and garlic all baked together - so easy and quite delish!

made a batch of lemon basil pistachio cookies too!

think we're having a bonfire tonight so we'll cook up some hot dogs ourselves and some s'mores!! :D

Tonight I'm making roasted corn chowder with homemade black pepper-rosemary focaccia served with a German lager - perfect "after the rain storm" dinner. :)

I'm missing a few umlauts in those above words, and yes, there is a reason I never learned how to speak Finnish!!! :funny1:

Soudn like some good eats - I love both tilapia and white clam sauce! I almost got tilapia for our meal last night, but the trout fillets were a better shape for rolling.

I think there may be some pasta with white clam sauce in my near future - yum!

Tonight is a NY strip bbq's and served with salad and sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic. Got the sautee pan on and I'm enjoying some red vino, gonna go add some to the pan as well! :wine:
