So, I went in Monday afternoon and asked how much to get my package to North Carolina tomorrow. $24? Ok.

Give them the package and money, get a recepit that says it is to be delivered next day (Tuesday) by 3:00 pm.

I checked on line this morning, and it says my package is due to be delivered by 3:00 today (Wednesday). Which is NOT next day.

So, I go to the post office where I am told that I should not have been given next day because they can't get it to NC the next day. WHICH IS A TOTAL LIE, because according to the online tracking my package was in NC Tuesday morning at 11 am and could easliy have been delivered on time.

No apology, which I always hate. No, "Oops, human error". Do people not know that the #1 thing people want when something goes wrong (other than their money back, which I am getting) is an apology?

Lesson learned: Use FedEx next time.

a few weeks ago I had a 264lb box shipped next day air to the mid-west for almost $1600 to not slow down a project.

didn't show up for 2 days. no apologies, just, "the delay was due to weather in NY which we cannot control"

bullshit, there was no weather in NY at that time.

I use an automated program for FedEx and it will allow me to create next day labels for areas where there is no next day service, so buyer beware!

How's the new house?

The new house is awesome! Needs some work and paint and we are still not 100% unpacked, but it is a really cool feeling to be living in OUR house.

I've had experiences like this with:

USPS
UPS
FedEx

The only difference is the amount of money you shell out before being bent over. :plain:

My US Post Office Experience:

i once held a brief casual carrier job at the US postal service. worst job of my life.

i was a temp (non-union). i (like all the other casual carriers) was subjected to the most obnoxious, petty bullshit, union-bullying nonsense
you could ever imagine. these people must have led miserable lives. horrible culture there.

i worked there for 2 months. one saturday (memorial day holiday weekend no less) i drove my car back to the post office and threw my pile of mail that still needed to be delivered onto the loading dock and told the shift manager BUH-BYE. first and only job i ever walked out on. felt great!

We've had some serious problems with packages getting lost, damaged or delayed lately. Ebay customers are not understanding when it comes to shipping issues either.

No wonder USPS is doing horribly and in the red. We have other options now and don't need your crappy service any more. Mail is going to be obsolete soon.
