Gregg Allman Misses New York Shows Due To Back Pain
Veteran rocker Gregg Allman cut short a show in New York on Saturday night (24Mar12) and sat out a second on Sunday (25Mar12) after he was struck down with back pain.
The Allman Brothers Band star walked off stage 30 minutes before the end of his gig at Manhattan's Beacon Theatre on Saturday and was taken to hospital to be treated for problems with his spinal discs.
A statement posted on his Facebook.com page reads, "Gregg Allman has bulging discs in his back that are normally under control. Last night, he had a painful flare up 30 minutes before the end of the second set at the Beacon, which forced him to leave the stage."
Allman was due back on stage the next night for another gig at the Beacon, but had to skip the show due to his painful ailment.
The group played without Allman, and his bandmate Warren Haynes filled in on vocals while keyboardist Bruce Katztook over organ duties.
