Someone on Fbook just remarked that the icon in the flyer is "blasphemous"

This is the "original" Tobacco Road. Not sure why they disappeared for a while, but this is the same club.I think I want Tobacco Rd. back.
I think the blaspheming they were referring to is mixing GD & Phish icons. How is a fish bowl blasphemy?
Or are they referring to the skull? Still.
I was going to use a dead goldfish in a bowl (Dead/Phish), but we wanted the Furthur fans to "get it" without straining their addled brains too much.

Both bands have a place in my heart, but I do know a lot of Deadheads who HATE Phish...
Interestingly, I don't know too many Phisheads who HATE the Grateful Dead.
At first, before I opened this thread I thought; how could the Flyer's icon (hockey) be blasphemous? Then I saw the poster (admittedly, I looked for NHL logo hidden in poster), re-read the thread title and figured it was just a funny way to get people to look at the ad for an after-party. Then I read your second post (quoted above) and realized what you were talking about.
Anyway, I never got the whole deadhead vs phishhead or GD vs Phish deal.

not the same people working there though! It'll never be the same. But glad it's surfaced. Hopefully it'll bring some grime back to NYC
yeah, just checked out the webpage.. they are doing a Wrestlemania night, and it looks like they are now home to NYC's Original Dueling Pianos show. there's nothing grimy about dueling pianos, and Wrestlemania isn't really our kinda grime.
but, I'd go check out some feesh.

Aha!Nope not the same owner. Different owner. not the same people working there either... It'll never be the same. But glad it's surfaced. Hopefully it'll bring some grime back to NYC
It's still a cool little "dive", though... and the new owners had the good taste to book our little band's 1st residency.

Riots?this may piss off enough heads of either "party" that they may show up just to protest ,unknowing that by showing up and paying to get in to protest actually looks good for the band and then when the riots start the band gets put in the local paper and the legend takes off from there.. next thing ya know is the lead singer is getting arrest for showing himself onstage and cars are ending up in hotel pools..
Oh! So you'll be coming down, roo?

Too bad. I guess inciting (another) riot is something you need to do (again).nope.. but i heard those Dead Family and Phish Family Mafias are real "tough guys!" so very tough when their all doped up and drunk ya know
Here's hoping for a mafia-free residency!

We're not selling the flyers, so I'm not sure what they would sue us for. Perhaps a cease and desist?I like it, though wary of copyright violations. I might make party plural. More playing is good.
We're small potatoes. I'm not too worried.
They could sic ASCAP/BMI on us for performing cover music, I suppose...

Y'all play so little GD and Phish these days, you really shouldn't make those bands the center focus of your flier.
Y'all are so much more than just GD & Phish with a peppering of the others. Jellyband is a good time, feel good, cover band who happen to include some GD & Phish into their repertoire.
Step out of the shadow of your last band. THAT was a GD/Phish cover band that played some bits and pieces from the others. This...Jellyband...it's SO much more.
