All I do are free weights and I am always alone, in the basement. The only time I have an issue is when I do bench presses. I don't really need a spotter for anything else. Well, the front and back seated barbell presses are a bit iffy at times.

My dad was a competitive power lifter when I was a kid. I've seen guys suffer some pretty gruesome injuries even with a spotter and seen many, many more saved from gruesome injuries because of their spotter. Even though the weights those guys were throwing around were hundreds more than I would, the whole concept makes me a little squeamish.

Nice job on the vids, btw. Very informative.

Still working it. Lost an inch and a half from the waist but I'm still not happy yet with the abs. Gonna work them a bit harder for the next few months...at least until I leave for vibes. :Phishfolk:

Nice work, all!

"Six pack abs" have far more to do with reducing body fat percentage than building the ab muscles. Keep on the diet.

sucks, but is true. I have about an hour and fifteen minutes each morning to devote to working out. I had been doing 45 minutes with weights, 30 with cardio.

...reversing that.

Taking a break (sort of) from the weights to concentrate more on the cardio and reducing overall body fat percentage. Weekly routines will still involve some weight lifting but, again, focusing more on the cardio overall.

And, of course, watching very closely the amount of calories I take in.

Man, my new job is firming me up. My biceps and calves are looking pretty damned incredible if I may brag here for just a sec. Plus I'm working on a sweet tan from working outside everyday. Yup. I'm looking pretty hot guys.
I still wish I had more time to run, but what can you do.

This week: more acupuncture, judo, walking stairs, abs. Need to work a little bit of everything.

Haven't been here very much, but I've been diligently in the gym 4-5 x a week. The only break I've had was when I was on my 10 day meditation retreat. I'm very happy with my strength at this point.

I have been playing tennis 4 times a week for the past month and doing abs in the morning. I'm definitely in the best shape I've been in years, but it hasn't exactly translated into better tennis results yet. Tennis season lasts through the 2nd week of August. After that, my wife signed me up for a 5k for the Susan G Koman Race For The Cure in October, since she is the regional director or something like that. I'm going to train for that by going back on a cut diet (I added 400 calories a day to switch to maintenance in season to make sure I have enough energy to play 4 times a week) and running a lot. I hope to drop another 10-15lbs for the race and get my time under 25 minutes. Then, there will be a heavy lifting bulk cycle from November to January followed by cutting and cardio/plyos from Feb - April to get ready for next tennis season.

Then, I turn 40 and fully expect my whole body to completely break down.

Been lifting 6 - 10 12 oz. brews a day and curling chicken wings, pizza, burgers and fried goods. Feelign good. Strength and endurance have both increased dramatically. Tonight...4 - 6 12oz lifts and perhaps a few yoga :pimp: arm swirls.

Keep up the good work!

That program is ridiculous;y hard. Good luck, keep it up!

I haven't been able to get much cardio in these days because I do it at work all day, but I've started walking/running/biking to work so I can have time where I'm doing cardio for cardio, not just because I'm doing it at work.

Bis and tris tonight ladies. Then another game tomorrow night. This league is much more of a workout than my last as we are, on average, 10 years older than all of the other teams.

Haven't been to the gym, but I have been playing 3-4 times a week. I had my best weekend yet this weekend. I played 3 USTA matches, starting with 2 indoors on Saturday in a sauna. I won the first, then played up a level in the second and at least gave the guy a good run. I got the best compliment I've ever gotten on a tennis court at the end when he said that I was moving well and getting to a lot of shots that most people at this level don't get to. No one would have told me that last year when I was 30 lbs heavier, and this was after 2 whole matches and almost 4 hours of tennis in a sauna. Topped off my 7 hours of tennis this weekend with a 3 set marathon match in the beating sun yesterday against an undefeated opponent that I outlasted and won with an ace at the end.

protip: If you're not a runner, don't run 3 miles the first time out.

Make sure you stretch your quads extra good before you run and after. Protein immediately after a run will help your muscles mend too.
