Due to government budget cuts my project was cut. There has been scares in the past but this time we were not given a warning to fight it. We have 6 weeks to run normal operation and after that a system shut down will begin till June 6th. On a positive note I basically have till June 6th to find a new job. I find it's funny how shutting down the our communication system was considered a budget cut. Oh well!!!! Thankfully here in the DC area there is a lot of work for us Engineers.

On a side note moving back to the NYC area has been on my mind. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy living here in the DC area, have met some great people, and over all life is really good.

Family, good friends, and music scene are a big consideration. Plus working wise, I'm finding working Private industry holds a more comfortable stability level for me then government affiliated jobs. Chances are I'll wind up staying around here especially since I started on a path towards a MBA.

Thanks! In general I am a very methodically ambitious person, so what ever direction my life takes me I have a feeling it will be a good one.

Wow, that is quite the shut down period.

It's a robust system with hundreds of users spread across the country. Also add on data center shut downs which take sometime. So that estimated time is actually about right.

Thanks everyone for your best wishes!!! My search in this short period of time is looking positive. I already had a phone interview and have an in person interview this week. I have a feeling things will be ok and in all I think that this will be a good move for my career.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Since I found out this information that my contract will no longer be funded I have been going all out on the job search. I was even already offered a position which I wound up having to turn down due to monetary reasons. I've had a few in person interviews on top of that. I have a big interview tomorrow afternoon which I hope I am given an offer for. The position seems like a great fit for me in all areas. Top it off the benefits package is definitely a huge positive plus. All I can do is give it my all and hope for the best. If it doesn't work out I just need to keep at it.
