Great photos as usual....glad ya covered Treme.....I really hope it comes back. Such a great show!

Yeah, I enjoyed it as well and I'm pretty sure they've already renewed it for a second season.

I wanted to post a few odds and ends.

First off a few shots from the Lotus/STS9 show at Roseland Ballroom.
Really tough show to shoot, as both bands went for strobe lights and projectors and whatnot. So basically I either got darkness
or over-exposed flare on the camera. But I did manage to get these decent shots up.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Lotus already has the soundboard up with the photos

http://www.livedownl...ew-York-NY.html
.
Also Jambands.com ran an article on a secret Grace Potter show tonight in Manhattan (at the Public Library on 42nd Street
which we have tickets to, but will not be attending due to softball playoffs) and used my shot of her from the Green Apple Festival
http://www.jambands....-secret-locale/
Posted Image
.
Also I wanted to post a lovely shot of Again and Again's son from his birthday party from a few weeks ago.
He set up the pose all himself, I couldn't believe it, so well done :)
Posted Image
.
A few of you know I'll be driving out to Phoenix, Az for the next week, so this will be it for now, but hopefully I'll have lots of good photos
to share when I get back :)

So I got in from our cross country trip on Saturday night. I got to take a few photos, but not as much as I would have liked unfortunately.
However in Amarillo, Texas, there's an "installation just off of I-40 that I got to shoot for a few minutes. Here's the first one I got a chance to work on, its a one shot HDR with the clouds added in photoshop, hopefully there will be more to come :)

Alright so we just got back from moe.down and the photos are finished and up.
We had a great time and are real exhausted. The bands, lighting, and access were all excellent. The only band we had a
15 minute limit on was Nas and Damian Marley, otherwise it was pretty relaxed on rules in the pit, although come Sunday night
it was real hard to move about with all of the moe.family in the pit.
Carla's review is up here

A couple of odds and ends from jambands.com
A few weeks ago jambands.com ran an article on The Brew and their television appearance using a few of my photos from
the Music Hall in Portsmouth.
Posted Image
.
They also ran an announcement on Lotus's New Years Eve plans with my recent shot from Roseland.
Posted Image
.
and an article on STS9 and their shows in Colorado
Posted Image
.
On Saturday we went down to the waterfront in Jersey to take a photo of the 9-11 memorial.
Unfortunately they had moved it farther away from Ground Zero than I had thought, so we had to relocate a bit to get this angle.
Posted Image
Its a four picture HDR with the camera clamped to the railing. Unfortunately the colors have been compressed a bit by uploading it online,
but what can you do :)

First off, some shots from Thursday night at Brooklyn Bowl. Stanton Moore Trio played an excellent first set and had Anders Osborne join them
for the second. The place was packed (even Plank was there) and the second set truly rocked. Shooting was a bit tough, but I got a couple of decent shots.

So we had a great time at Soulive on Saturday night. A ton of musicians played including all the guys from Lettuce, Soulive, The Shady Horns, Nigel Hall, Talib Kweli, John Scofield,
and Warren Haynes. There was no time limit on the photo pit and the lighting was generally pretty good, although it did tend to go dark and to the reds at time.

So we went to Las Vegas last week and had a lovely time and for these we had a beautiful day to shoot.
Its become a bit of a tradition with myself and my sister to meet up around Thanksgiving or so and spend the day
walking and talking and shooting....
.
Here's a couple of shots we took out in the desert of Eldorado Canyon at the old Techatticup Mining Camp
We ended up getting pretty lucky on the weather, we drove through a dust storm on the way out there, but it cleared up
and we got a real nice desert sky to work with.
These are one shot HDRs, they come out pretty decently as long as you keep the ISO low (200 or 250) and don't shoot directly into the sun.

A few shots from Yonder Mountain String Band at the Best Buy Theater on Friday evening. Although the venue was only 1/2 full and they had the backseats closed off,
the band put on a really good show, the lights were excellent and there was no time limit in the pit. Also for the most part of the evening, I was the only photographer in there.

Lets do a bit of odds and ends here.
.
I got a chance to photograph Mike Gordon's Mossery event a few weeks ago, I even sat next to him and was introduced, although it didn't go as well as I would have liked. The shooting was a bit tough, as everyone was crowded in and the lighting went to reds a good bit of the time.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Hidden Track ran a story on the evening using the shots as well.
http://www.glidemaga...ns-the-mossery/
.
I also had a chance to shoot a couple of bands at the CMJ Festival in the city. A friend of mine has been pushing Hooray for Earth, so I got to check out their 2pm set at Pianos. I showed up a touch late and it ended up being a quick set, but I got a couple of shots.
Posted Image
Posted Image
.
During the festival I also caught Tom Hamilton's set with his revamped band American Babies. Aron Magner sat in for the entire set and I managed to grab a couple of shots of the event.
Posted Image
Tom seems to have liked the shots and put a bunch of them up on his facebook page
http://www.facebook....&id=29552112035
and even used one of the shots on his personal page.
http://www.facebook....p?id=1230967439

I also began a new column for Hidden Track using the photo above, with a few other shots I had taken and some I had gotten from other photographers and friends.
http://www.glidemaga...c-october-2010/
Its sort of a combination of a photo gallery of the month, with a bit of Page 6 added in, with sit ins and backstage photos and tiny bits of info. I'm hoping to have it run once a month to start and possibly once every two weeks, when it gets going.
.
Posted Image
I was able to take the above shot of Marco Benevento and Scott Metzger at Mexicali of their band, Bustle In Your Hedgerow. I had a chance to talk to Scott during set break and gave him a few photos that may get used along with an interview in Relix magazine (fingers crossed).

I've got a Rubblebucket show coming up this weekend at the Highline Ballroom and possibly a few more things cooking :)

Lets see I've been real busy of late and gotten way behind on a ton of things (including this).
.
First I had the opportunity to photograph Brendan Benson and The Posies at the Highline Ballroom.
Brendan Benson is also in the The Raconteurs with Jack White, while the members of The Posies including Ken Stringfellow
have played in REM and Big Star. It was a decently packed show, but I got there earlier enough to grab a good spot for both bands.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
.
The shots got posted to TheWaster.com and can be seen here, with a full review of the evening.
http://www.thewaster...epage&Itemid=77
.
Staying with TheWaster.com they also heavily featured my publicity photo of U-Melt, in advertising their final gig at the Highline Ballroom
Posted Image
.
I also got a new photo posted to jambands.com from the Brooklyn Bowl show of Stanton Moore and Anders Osborne.
http://www.jambands.com/in-the-moment/
http://farm5.static....876d666c5_z.jpg
.
and I got the Novembe column of A Memory of Music up with photos of Billy Nershi, Blues Traveler, Sister Sparrow, and Curren$y
http://www.glidemaga...-november-2010/
http://www.glidemaga...rooklynBowl.jpg
http://www.glidemaga...sterSparrow.jpg
http://www.glidemaga.../11/Curreny.jpg
.
and I'll have something up from The Radiators show at Sullivan Hall in a few days.

So I had the opportunity to photograph Soulive and the The Royal Family Holiday Rage, this past Thursday evening at the Brooklyn Bowl.
The show didn't start until after 11pm, but was still packed until about 2am when I finally decided it was time to get on home. The shooting was
fairly easy, with lots of different combinations of performers on the stage and a good amount of light and angles to shoot from.

Well I've been a bit busy of late with some new projects and a new job. I was asked by Hidden Track back in November to write an article on the stories behind 10 of my photos. It ended up turning into a pretty big piece and I even got one of our professional Boardie Writers to edit it for me. If you've kept up with this thread, I think you'll notice most of the photos and stories were originally written here first. So take a look and enjoy.

This year's event had Phillip Glass, The Flaming Lips, Taj Mahal, The Roots, and Michael Stipe among others. The highlight of the night
was either The Roots doing Neil Young's Down by the River with a Hey Joe ending or Phillip Glass taking a beautiful solo on "Do You Realize" that
left everyone on stage with their jaws open....

So we did another baby shoot two weekends ago with Sarah. Very simple set up in the living room with a black sheet thrown up over the window for a backdrop. We started with one hot light in a softbox and then added side lighting with the gridded flashes as we moved through the shoot. The mother was really happy with the shots and we had them to her before her Easter dinner with the family :)
The client was estatic over the second shot, I was so happy it came out exactly as we planned.

Some shots from Governor's Ball from a few weeks back. The performers included Girl Talk, Neon Indians, Big Boi, Pretty Lights, Empire of the Sun and more. It was a wonderful summer day with some great views, although a little hot. Unfortunately it was a bit tough shooting the headliners as Pretty Lights has a massive Q-bert type stage set up and Girl Talk basically hides behinds his laptops and even the girl dancers weren't very well lit.

So I had a very successful Gathering of the Vibes this year. I showed my work to Ryan Montbleau, Scott Murawski, and Reid Genauer and got great comments from all of them.

I also had the opportunity to introduce myself and talk to th guys from Nico's Gun, Jon Gutwillig, Joe Russo. Jamie McLean, Jason Crosby, Josh Clark, a few lovely Maytals, and got a handshake from Toots :)

Also during the weekend we Tweeted for Hidden Track and posted photos of Big Gigantic's fans, Levon Helm, and a few others. On Sunday morning we woke up from the hotel, ran a photo of Jane's Addiction and went down to breakfast. We came back up about 45 minutes later and was surprised to find I had over 300 hits. The post got retweeted by more than a few people excited with the photo including the one below

I had a chance to shoot Deer Tick the other week on Pier 54 in New York City. Ended up being a beautiful evening and the show was a ton of fun with new songs and covers of La Bamba and Maybellene. Interesting there was no limit on the songs in the pit, so I ended up staying for the first six songs or so before figuring I had enough shots. Of course a few songs later the lead singer jumps into the crowd, forcing me to race back to the pit at which point I missed the whole damn thing. In the commotion, I somehow set off the Pandora app on my iphone, so ended up trying to hide to the side of the stage while I desperately tried turn the damn thing off. While I'm standing there the stage manager comes over, so I try to apologize and he stops me and asks if I want to shoot from the stage. So definitely a good night :)

A couple of shots from this weekend on Lake Winnipesaukee. I did a shoot with Carla's Uncles and her father with their boats zipping by on the water.
One of the uncles was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and has been thinking of selling his boat, but before he did he wanted a cool photo.
So he saved up all his energy and we went out for about 45 minutes, with him zipping around in a huge circle trying to go faster and higher.
Funny thing about the first shot, her uncle wanted "the rooster tail" in one of the shots, but the 200-70 always was too tight to get it in, so I had to photoshop it from a later exposure.
