just bought a used small coop off craigslist. it will hold three chickens, sounds like a good placed to start. of course i'm thinking what the hell did i get my self into
dude you bought a coop?..why didn't you just build one? a few 2x4s, plywood and chicken wire would do.

My neighbor has 3 chickens and 2 ducks. They each lay 1-2 eggs in the warm weather. We take care of them when she's out of town or busy and get lots of yummy fresh eggs
They all sleep in a closed coop. Chickens on the top, ducks on the bottom. They tuck themselves in at dusk and the door just needs to be latched. She changes the shavings in the coop once per week. Put down fresh water and feed in the morning.
She only has hens so they aren't noisy. I don't think they are really that smelly either.
I'd love to have some but we only have a 200 x 200 property and one of my dogs can't be trusted around them. She pulled a bunch of tail feathers out of Ginger once

it's not cedar. Barb just order 6 chicks hope one or two don't make it
Sadly, one or two probably wont make it..especially since they are being shipped.
I picked up 7 chicks from the local Agway..one died the next day. There is always a chick or two that aren't dominant and they have to fight for food and water.

We picked up 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Jersey Giants on Friday! Them with my 6 year old: Thier future palace: Im working on the run now, and should be all set in a few weeks!
Nice coop I've been trying to get some jersey giants..but the local Agway never carry them..not a big fan of mail order.

When I went to Italy, the friend (guy who ran the Deli I worked at in high school) I satyed with had a rabbit farm.
They were seperated in bunches.
Babies, mating, and fukk grown and ready to eat.
I must admit, they were quite tasty. But I did not put it together until after I was eating it.

wow Tim that's one bad ass coop. what's it got under the hood? lol we've got our 6 chicks so far they all look healthy
Thanks! Can't take much credit...my friend John (some of you have met him) is a really skilled dude, who tends toward overengineering things.
