Christie: If Giants win, parade should be in NJ

By JOSH MARGOLIN

Last Updated: 7:48 AM, January 18, 2012

Posted: 7:47 AM, January 18, 2012

NJ Gov. Chris Christie opened this morning's Today show by reigniting the long-standing border war between the Garden State and New York over the city's two football teams that play across the Hudson.

Asked where a parade should be held if the Giants win the NFL championship again, the combative Christie didn't hesitate to vote for NJ.

"They play in New Jersey. They train in New Jersey," he said.

When host Matt Lauer responded with "what's it say on their helmets," referring to the "NY" logo, Christie said: "that's about it."

I agree, but where in NJ?
Our cities are in shambles, not safe.

Who would go to a parade in Newark, Paterson , Camden, Trenton?

Not this guy. Not unarmed.

Perhaps.

Definitely the best chance of New England having one considering the local 9 up there don't look like they'll be celebrating anything any time soon.

Not with the mess golden boy Theo left them.

Actually, this may be the only positive.
Now they can play someone in left who may actually be able to hit.

By the way, and its the last I'll say about that atrocity of a $180 million dollar team, I think Theo went gung ho on Crawford so that when he left for the Cubs he can come grab Ellsbury when he's free, seeing that the Sox can't keep both of them.

What a mess. Tough team to root for anymore.

Not sure how kindly Boston sports fans are gonna take to seeing the Giants occupying Copley Square, but the idea is kind of Belichickian in its unsportsmanlike effyouedness, so why not? :funny1:

Many teams use sites outside the actual City of the team's namesake...Christie just has to realize that part of his state is a suburb of NYC and get over it.

Keep it as 2 parades...fun in NYC and run for your life in Jersey :funny1:

Christie needs to be reminded that he refused the billions of dollars that would build the new transportation links between NYC and NJ, and thus any parade on his home soil will be grossly underattended. Thus, the parade must be in Manhattan. :Phishfolk:

oh, and let's see 'em win the pair of games necessary to trigger the parade clause, first.

I seem to remember before he, and a host of others starters, got put on IR that Ryan Lindell kicked the winning field goal this season to beat the Pats. It must be my imagination.

No, real playoff teams can handle injuries.

Anyone who understood the Bills knew depth was a problem. The Bills lost too many key players and had too little depth.

And I'm not saying they would have made the post season if we had the same players on the o and d line for at least most of the season plus fred jackson and our kicker, but they might have.

But not a real football team? That's crap.

Go Bills, the only NY football team :v:

Go Giants , my perception is without borders and gates.. just radius. Going into the city means 13 $ dollar toll and parking costs, I'm cheap just do it here in North Jers

Great thread pumped up about the " If GIANTS win" Positive thinking. !

That was because of the lockout. They had to cancel their reservations in Albany since they couldnt be sure when training camp would be.

1. your
2. My track record? I play football?
3. If you mean my track record as a fan, I was spot on this year. From the beginning I knew depth was the core problem. Sure I was hopeful, but I never lost site of their problems, nor did I lose sight that as the season progressed they might be 'solved'.
4. how did that whole undefeated thing work out for your Pats? :lmao:

Yep, I'll keep rooting for my Bills. :jamguy:

The only reason the Bills beat the Pats was because I was at the game

Having grown up two miles from Rich Stadium (I've rode my bike to a game or two) I will always remain a bills fan but the last two years in particular have been heart wrenching. The last thing John Murphy said at the end of game 16 two years ago was "...And that marks ten consecutive seasons the Bills have not made a playoff appearence." I stopped paying any attention to off season trades and accuisitions, training camp which is now around the corner from where I work in Rochester. :bang:
