[In A Silent Way]

A few days ago we took down the rat cage after the last two died, having decided that we weren't going to have any more rats. The next day, my father-in-law and niece show up with an orphaned baby rat they found. It's maybe one or two weeks old, and its eyes aren't open yet. My wife & daughter are feeding it formula with a syringe. It may bond to my daughter, but it's a wild rat that's not bred for temperament, so I'm insisting it go back to the wild when it's old enough to survive.
