Good timing! I hit the Marin Farmer's Market today. . . the grandaddy of them all. Got 4 different kinds of garlic, asked for the spiciest! And man oh man, gotta love those baby lettuces. And what is it about farm-fresh broccoli! Mmmmmmm!!!!!

The farmers market is an Ithaca institution since 1973 and part of the fabric of life here as well as a nice tourist draw. If you live anywhere near this area and haven't been you should go. It's a visual, olfactory, and tast delight. The bounty there this time of the year going forward is spectacular.

A lovely weekend can include a trip to farmers market, a hike in a gorge to see some spectacular waterfalls such as Lucifer Falls at Treman State Park (1 of 3 state parks in the county), and some great music at a place like Castaways.

i think i'm going to head there today, once the sun comes up and temps rise out of the 30's.

as best as i can tell, the gartlein's rain tree farm has no web page. their wares can be purchased at the farmer's market. i've also been out to their workshop to pick up some items. the proprietors are chris and ginny gartlein. their workshop is at 350 hill rd in ithaca.

besides their long standing booth at the fm, that's all the info i can find.
