I'm looking for an alternative to flowers for centerpieces and thinking about making bamboo centerpieces. Tons of blogs talk about this.... but none have a picture if one.
I don't want one that is traditional chinese. I want a glass vase with 5 24" shoots sticking out of it and some stones or something... but perhaps throw in a little something something. like votive candles or something. I'd like to see someone's table setting who has done this.
But no... I can't steal anyone's ideas.
ok... rant over. can you find bamboo centerpieces anywhere?

Carolyn, you should do a bunch of smaller ones and then the guests at the tables can take them home with them as a reminder of your day.
My brother and sister in law gave bamboo as their wedding favors. They had a small cylindrical glass vase with a few stones in each, and one stalk of bamboo. They made up stickers to put on the vase and they were so cute.

I'm having no inspiration on my wedding reception inspiration. The room is blah and will need lots of decorating. I'm feeling overwhelmed. There are NO pictures online of receptions in the hall... and it is one of the top spots to get married in this city. blah.

if it's one of the top locations for your area, check out theknot.com's message boards and see if you can connect with any of the brides that used your venue. they tend to stick around after the ceremony to share pics and stuff...after spending so much time and $$ on an event, they want to show it off i guess
i like the idea. and as great of an idea as it is to use the internet, don't underestimate the ability of your florist to come up with a great idea all on his/her own, too. and mock-ups are free
