We stopped at the park to let our dog chase squirrels. Through the mangroves we went, out on the pier, overlooking downtown Sarasota and the Ringling Bridge, as he remembered our first date and a look I gave him that sent an arrow through his heart that is still there today.

He then got on one knee and asked if I would marry him.
