a lot of folks woulnt have even gotten married if not for the economic perks.

Really?

Would you marry me?
Depends, what would be our tax bracket?

That sounds like it would be doomed from the start.

Great. So the same things could be said about the war on terror, the war on drugs, economic warfare and civil liberty warfare. Stay the course, right? No turning back now! Only thing ot do is keep doing the same disastrous fucked up mess we've been at! Eventually, we'll win!!!!

Uhh, no. I didn't say "stay the course there's no turning back now." That's your own wrong perception.

What I said was that you can't go back and change history. You have to build upon the foundation that's already laid. There's no way to tear it up and start over.

It's a subtle difference, but I'm not surprised you misunderstood and then tried to paint me in a corner again.

Check out alcohol prohibition if you don't believe me. They didn't go back and erase it, they moved forward and changed it.

or contradicting myself here, who is to say a bill isnt passed making it federally legal then the next prez gets in and re-peals the law sending us back to square one... i have to say on this issue the paul approach is cleaner...sorta nips it in the bud....never to re-surface.

I think it is the Federal Government's job to protect the rights of gay people. Ron Paul's solution is just to ignore the problem. I don't think that will nip anything in the bud.

If we try to go back and try to rewrite every law that we don't agree with, we'd be constantly chasing our tails.

The law does not get less complicated over time. Parts of it do not get omitted.

Maybe this is another thing you disagree with, but in my opinion nothing short of a radical overthrow of the Government can change it.

What I'm saying is that it's a lot simpler to add laws than it is to remove them.

The repeal of the 18th amendment was moving legislation in reverse, not forward.. You're playing semantics. Forward! Not stay the course! It's the same thing. If bad laws are passed or are unconstitutional, they are to be reversed, or repealed. Not moved forward in change. The change is back to what it was before it was outlawed in the case of prohibition.

I'm not even talking to you anymore.

But you're wrong.

What law are they going to repeal in order to give gay people equal rights? (repealing a law is moving forward, you're not going back and erasing what you've done, you're repealing it)

Are they going to repeal all laws regarding the rights of married people?

Seriously, explain to me in detail how this issue which is important to a percentage of the population would be resolved by Ron Paul.

And don't even mention the word semantics, because you're the king of semantics.

and yeah I do agree that it is purely a semantics, and that's sad that we can't even agree on something so simple without nitpicking at the words, whether they be "marriage" or "civil union"

is it really that big of a deal in life?

Do the seasons go Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, or is it Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall. Are we moving forward or backward? Honestly... who the fuck cares, give gay people their rights and quit whining.

repealing a law is admitting it was wrong, correcting it, and moving on.

There's no way to go back and erase something that's already there. It's already in the record.

I think married people do deserve certain rights as I've mentioned above. I don't care if that couple happens to be gay or straight. Can Ron Paul say the same?

what kind of discussion is it if your goal is to win?

(hint:not a discussion)

that's why you'll never "beat" me.

I'm not here to "win." I'm here to discuss.

Your competitive nature is kind of annoying.

what didn't you understand? The comments I posted earlier were not directed at either one of you two.

Is it really that hard for you to understand an idea from the context?

It's your lucky day today, because I learned something new recently called Hanlon's Razor.

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

I will assume you both have the best intentions for now because it's not yet clear what your position is on gay rights. You say that the Federal Government shouldn't be involved... well OK, so do you think States ought to recognize gay marriage or is this just a cop out so that you don't have to reveal your true feelings?

And why wouldn't our Constitution protect the rights of gay individuals? Why is that to be left up to the States? Leaving it up to the States means that some States would be allowed to discriminate against them -- to the point of making homosexuality a crime if they felt like it.(I wouldn't be surprised if it already was a crime in some places)

all these individualists are concerned about is themselves, and I doubt they can argue that.

Even when they give to charities, they take a tax deduction.

Ron Paul wins 21 of 25 delegates elected in Iowa

Mitt Romney was pipped at the post by Rick Santorum at the Iowa caucuses in January, but neither will head into the national convention with the majority of delegates from the Hawkeye State.

Instead Ron Paul will go to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., in August with 21 of the 25 unbound delegates elected from Iowa over the weekend.

Paul won 10 of 13 delegates elected at Saturday's state convention in addition to having won 11 of 12 delegates elected at Friday night's district conventions.

"We thank the many Iowa Republican activists for working tirelessly toward this meaningful victory, in particular the work they performed in the service of constitutional government and personal liberty," Ron Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton said.

"This win is a real validation for our campaign and its many supporters in Iowa and across our great nation.
