Dear Boardies, wow, it's hard to believe that 2011 is quickly coming to a close & 2012 is just around the corner - "where does the time go?" I hope you all had a fab Thanksgiving, chillin' with friends, family & hopefully seeing some live music to inspire the soul. We've submitted some exciting headlining offers to band booking agents - so the next month is a somewhat stressful waiting game. What bands are gonna tour? "You want how much to perform?!?!?! Ok, let's split it down the middle" - you guys know the deal!

What bands do u guys REALLY want to see @ Vibes 2012? As Dr. Frasier Crane would say "I'm listening"...

Much love to you all, stay warm over the winter months & as soon as we're able to announce bands, we will.

Here's an idea, and less stressful than hunting down another artist to book:

How about following the last Main Stage act on a given night, you hook up a classic Dead show to the speakers and just let it play? My buddy and I always say, usually following DSO, how much we'd love to kick back in a lawn chair and just follow a classic '73 show being played over the speakers.

You could even have fans send in their picks and choose the most popular entry.....

I hate to say it, but canned music would be like at a concert when they want you to go home. IMHO, for that first night, the "tribute night", after DSO, nobody ever was so amazing as the MACHINE. Pink Floyd at 1am to end our first night completes the ultimate tribute band experience. It was the only time I ever stayed up until the very end of a late night show. :boogie:
Another one to consider: Manzerak touring as "The Doors" for a Main Stage Act or latenight. Technically not a tribute, since they really are 2/3 of the Doors but with a new singer. Impressive.

What bands do u guys REALLY want to see @ Vibes 2012?

Hi Ken, looking forward to the Vibes and thanks for asking for our input!

I'm generally "pro-" on most dead-related bands but would also be excited to see reggae, blues, funk and bluegrass as well. Agree with the above poster who'd like to see more female artists.

My thoughts, in no particular order:

Black Country Communion (or Joe Bonnamassa) - seriously anyone who hasn't yet checked these guys out, consider doing so.
Jackie Greene
Hot Tuna/ Jorma/ Jorma and Jack (acoustic and/or electric)
The Motet
The Killers
any Phil-based offering besides Furthur (PLF, PLQ, whatever)
7 Walkers
Rhythm Devils or whatever Mickey's doing these days
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Steve Kimock
STS9
Particle
Warren Haynes / govt mule
Allman Bros
Derek Trucks Band
Tedeschi-Trucks / SSR
Joan Osborne
String Cheese Incident
Neil Young
Steel Pulse, Burning Spear or other tasty reggae
Matisyahu
Santana
George Clinton / P-Funk
Blind Boys of Alabama
Levon Helm
Railroad Earth
NRPS
B.B. King
Sonny Landreth
Buddy Guy
The Decemberists
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
Los Lobos
Little Feat
Rusted Root
Buddy and Julie Miller or Band of Joy with Buddy Miller, Robert Plant etc
Allison Krauss
Sheryl Crow
Bonnie Raitt
black crowes
Taj Mahal
My Morning Jacket
Robert Randolph & the Family Band
Karl Denson

Neil Young (w/ Crazy Horse would be great while we're dreaming) check,
Levon Helm, roger that,
Hot Tuna, for sure - acoustic - electric - airplane reunion )
David Bromberg - for picks and giggles
Rice Rowan Grisman Fleck - Bluegrass/New Riders (Masters of Bluegrass)
Trucks/ Tedeschi- nice,
ABB - ok, could try again to a larger audience than at ILCC.
Jeff Beck was a great suggestion
Reggae and/or Ska afternoon would be enjoyable
Furthur
7 Walkers

plus the usual cast of characters

Dark Star Thursday, Phil and Friends Friday, Furthur Saturday. You guys gotta go out with a big bang for the last year 2012 at Bridgeport! Gotta have Phil Lesh and friends and Furthur together! Also I like the late night raves after the big Grateful Dead show, Sprongle would be great like at Rothbury, or EOTO like at Nateva. I always suggest Infected Mushroom! I also like how there was a Dj at the P.T. Barnum statue 2 years ago that remixed Shakedown Street! They should totally have a DJ there again. I always wondered why they don't have Ween or the Allman Brothers at Vibes, they would fit in nice. I don't care who plays Sunday I'm usually to tired to stay, and we can't sleep over so I can't stay too long since I got to drive home.

If Furthur and PLF both play the same day, I think Furthur should headline Saturday and PLF should play a rocking late late night. If that's the case DSO can headline Friday with a sick techno late night and maybe Splintered Sunlight Thursday. Although my preference would be they play 2 nights in a row I see how this could work with one big blowout day. It's a long time to be at the stage tho.
