nyone have experience making their own tye dye? I was at the crafts store and looking at Rit dyes too. I have some experience with natural dyes from plants but it is tough to find vibrant colors some times.. Just curious what dyes and such that folks have used and had success with? Hot water vs. cold water?

when I did a dyeing project Brianne recommended this site to me http://www.dharmatrading.com/
they were fast, cheap and easy to work with -- the fabric I dyed still looks good today (4+ yrs later) and it was a hard to dye fabric (nylon)

How much dye do you have to use to? I am looking at using standard t shirts but can't find the "weight"..

hey man- i just saw this (thanks for the props, ladies ;) )
email me if you want: twilightdance@gmail.com

i can help you.

#1- do not use Rit dye if you want a nice dye job. Rit sucks.
the dharma trading folks is pretty much the standard. Procion Dyes!

they have little jars of powdered Procion dye @ AC Moore- but they overchrage you like crazy. if you want to buy those to practice- go for it.

- fabric- must MUST be 100% cotton/rayon/hemp (natural fibers)
you need a special dye for polyester and synthetics.
check your tags.

I have different ways of dyeing different things- so email me with any questions :) I'll be happy to help!*
