My random thoughts...

Our street lights were turned off since the town didn't want to pay for them.

Highway signs are 95% useless! Why do our taxes pay for signs that let drivers know they are on 95 south/north? If they don't know if they are heading north or south they should get the fuc off of the road. Along the same lines, we don't need signs saying 95 south and one or two random town names.....exit numbers only and people can buy a map or buy a gps. Drive down the highway and count the amount of useless signs and guess how much they cost.....we could buy tanks or bombs....or feed the hungry with that money.

No need for sidewalks, most of them are not good enough for handicap people and they always need repairs.

During that hurricane last month our traffic flowed 86.772 percent better once people got use to no traffic lights. The normal 5-10 minute backup at our local one was reduced to maybe 20-30 seconds....MAssholes being nice to each other.

Phonelines? WTF are those used for? Landlines (even for faxes) are so 1990ish....get with the program and buy a cancer phone (cellphone for those on the short bus).

Those people protesting should get a job and pay some taxes cause I'm sick of paying taxes.

It could be argued, quite strongly, that though the federal government took control of these types programs since the inception of the federal reserve and the income tax, the private sector could handle this stuff just as well if not better with less waste and a more desirable outcome.

True.

And (speaking for myself) my problem isn't really with paying taxes. That's fine, we all have to do it. But when the govt takes our money, mismanages it, wastes it, etc. and then keeps coming back to us looking to take even more out of our paychecks because they keep fucking up, yeah... it pisses me off.

I would immediately add $1/gallon to the federal gasoline tax, escalating a further $0.10 per year.

You want to create incentives to use less oil? That's it right there.

Then I would have to walk or bike ten miles each way to work adding an additional three to four hours to my 13 hour work day. It would also raise prices of food so I would be eating less good food. Hurting the 99% again. Why not try ended big oil subsidiaries first?

I'm with you except:

* Tax at the crude oil level -- this should hit home heating oil, jet
fuel, use in products, etc., not just gasoline.

* Not sure what the right Per Barrel price is, but make it steep
(phased in over one or two years) then have yearly increases.

* Phase it in, a large increase all at once is too disruptive
especially to the lowest income people and struggling small
businesses.

* Use most (all?) of the revenue for...
+ research into non-carbon energy technologies
+ research into energy storage, transmission, etc.
+ building energy infrastructure (smart power grids, etc.)
+ research into things like smart-cars that could save energy.

* ALSO increase the gas tax, but much more modestly, and put that
money into transportation infrastructure (roads, bridges, rail, air ports)

How about a five dollar flat tax on airline tickets? About 2 million people in the US fly everyday. So 10 mill in revenue everyday. And it won't affect those who can't afford to fly.:dunno:

Pick it apart today or ten years from now please. If you are one of those people that need the north/south signs on the highway I'll send you a compass and instructions on how to use it:monkey:
