Washington (CNN) - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi Thursday brushed off the two special election losses Democrats suffered on Tuesday, saying the party was still on track with plans to regain control of the House of Representatives next fall.
"It does not alter our plan for taking back the House," Pelosi said, when asked about the GOP upset in a traditionally Democratic district in New York, and the wide margin the Republican received over the Democratic candidate in Nevada.
Republican Rep. Bob Turner defeated Democratic state Rep. Dave Weprin in New York and Republican Rep. Mark Amodei defeated Kate Marshall in Nevada in elections Tuesday to fill two vacant seats. Both were sworn-in on the House floor on Thursday by House Speaker John Boehner.
