Our cat Princess, that we had for 11 years suddenly started limping about a week ago-I thought that she had gotten one of her claws stuck on something and hurt it a bit. That did happen once before, and after a few days she was fine. Not this time-we took her to the vet this past week and they found a large cancerous mass near her right shoulder. They said that they could amputate her right front leg,but that even after that it may not get it all.She can't walk on that paw anymore and is in pain.Very sad...

We had her put to sleep. The tumor was getting bigger by the day-and the pain seemed to be getting worse-it was very hard to do this, but the options were not very good. Chemo? Amputations? Don't think it would be right to put her through all that.
She is now with Steven, and we will always miss them both.

It would have been hard for her and us. Some better news-we have been looking at local shelters and may be getting a new kitty soon. The void needs to be filled (the house is very quiet) and there are many cats that need a home. We will always miss Princess, but a new cat (or 2) will help...I'm sorry
It sounds like you made the right choice for an 11 year old cat.
