Your mileage might vary but this is what works for me: imagine being a few hundred yards up a hill from the bottom of a valley, walking the stone steps down to a valley, walking across waist high grass to reach a temple in the middle of the valley, walking up a spiral staircase to the top of your temple, being able to view 360 degrees of the field and the mountains.....at this point someone needed to bring me out of the meditation since I could stay there for hours. Maybe it helped that when I learned to do it my teacher would let a giant lizard crawl over the students laps and anyone who reacted was basically beat.

herb is like a tack in my foot when it comes to meditation. i get totally distracted and antsy before i give up and go eat something; some closed-eye visuals do come about if i set down immediately after toke.
I'll try the visualization, though.
on good days, I'll keep focus on my breath-it works for a while.
I've also focused on my physical third-eye spot; has anyone else experienced a warm pressure-sensation on their forehead when doing so?
