SURE, THERE WERE A FEW LITTLE GLITCHES, AND EASING UP ON THE WATER/CONTAINER DEAL WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD WAY TO GO, BUT THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL WEEKEND. CAN'T WAIT TO ORDER MY 2012 TICKET AS SOON AS THEY'RE AVAILABLE, AND TO GET DOWN WITH MY EVER-GROWNING POSSE (HEH HEH) OF VIBES FRIENDS.

the water is that way because we used to have bottles in VIP but there were like eleventy billion bottles at the end with 2 sips taken out of each one. so the cooler is the best way to not waste resources. if you have a better idea, please let us know! :)

I's just referring to the open container/bringing water in to the concert field Sums. And my post was 99% tongue in cheek and poking fun at a prior "HEY KEN" thread.

ok, oops, i miss read

here is what i think the "water on the concert field" problem was:

if you were a day tripper, you were allowed to bring in one sealed gallon of water. if you were in camping, you were allowed to bring in as much as you goddamnwellpleased.

day trippers were already searched at the gate. the ONLY thing security should have been searching for entering the concert field was beer, glass & coolers. not freaking water.

i have already mentioned this to ken.

Thanks, sums.

Yellow security team by the green stage made me dump my water every time i went to the concert field. They were also rather rude. Hopefully a resolve can be found for next year.

at the hotline next year, instead of the "other" category, i'm going to have one called "weather" ;)

I think weather was the result of cranky goers and workers. I mean, it WAS HOT. That's why I bring up the lellow, brehm. Kinda mean on water...:undecided:

Hey sums, not to beat a dead horse, but every single entry point into the public areas and concert field either siezed water, or made you drink/dump. Since the boards were burning up prior to vibes, I would guess that many many people had the same idea. That campers were not aloowed more than one SEALED bottle past the checkpoints. I think some security were lax (never when I went thru). There must have been some miscommunication somewhere.

Thanks for clearing up that it was NOT the intention....

So what are the consequences? What happens with the people who were entirely fucked by this policy, or misunderstanding of policy, as it were? Is it just "oh, sorry you had a shitty time, we might address this next year"? If that is the case, it just isn't good enough. I'm just tired of this "oh, well it happened so deal with it attitude." And I don't mean from you, Summer. It just seems like there is an epidemic of passing the buck. The way I see it, Terrapin owes a personal explanation and apology to everyone...at the very least. I personally spoke to many people whose entire experience was ruined by this. People didn't want to go see the music because it was too hot without water. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems like Terrapin is fine with this...I mean, they made their money, so tough luck for those of us who got screwed. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see any restitution being made. It's downright despicable.

...and it's not just that they were taking water, they were being total dicks about it.

Did I read that some folks with sealed water were also made to dump it out? Or am I imagining that?

Some folks with sealed water had it confiscated. I was in line with a friend who had two bottles with him, one sealed, on unsealed. They wouldn't let him take either in. I saw this happen numerous times over the weekend.

I don't mean to sound like a smartass here, but did anyone who wS hassled over water call the hotline to get clarification on the policy? I think the correct instructions could have been relayed to the yellow shirts if ops knew the policy was being enforced inconsistently, randomly, or wrongly.

there seemed to be no issues with getting water on to the concert field it was the security checking everyone at the green vibes gate. they were not pleasant at all and water nazis. and even if a few people did have vodka in their open containers, given the severity of the weather and risk to concert-goers, so what? a few alcoholic beverages got in - whoopee. the many more who were trying to bring in water should have been allowed to do so. gallons if necessary.

the lack of ability to walk freely with an open container to and from the concert field was a "huge suck" for me (i don't drink beer, so much of what was on the concert field wasn't an option for me). it would be nice if we were allowed to bring the one beverage we were consuming on our walk up to the gate, right on through the gate. my lack of ability to do so, did not encourage me to buy booze on the field - i refused, it just made me cranky and annoyed with the corporate mentality "if you don't drink our booze, you don't drink at all." unfortunately, i know this policy won't change but it truly sucks monkey balls.

oh and hai sums! awesome hug from you at the picnic

Agreed.

All i'm going to say is the yellow shirts were this years blue meanies. i got hassled exponentially less by the cops then these bright colored water nazis.

i didn't call the hotline about it though. :undecided: which was my own fault.

the only thing i did with the hotline number was call every 20 minutes to ask when jerry was going on stage. and to find out the time for the ferry to west camp island. that was on the map, but no one seemed to know how to get to it :dunno:
